GC adjacent and probably a long shot here, but does anyone by chance happen to have the album American Made by Wakefield on their computer? I’m sure it hasn’t aged well, but it was a big one for me when I was like 14 and I wanna add it to my library but I can’t find a download or a torrent or anything
Personally, I think Which Side Are You On? is much better and underrated, but yeah I can send you the album. Dm me
I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever listened to it, but it’s on streaming for me so I’ll have to check it out. Will DM you now! Thanks
That band was supposed to be working on a third album years ago but it never materialized. There were a few good songs on that second album, but I suppose it really flopped overall. The singer had a side project for a bit a while back as well. Fox In The Henhouse I believe.
Here for the Wakefield discussion! Which Side Are You On? is one of my favorite albums from that period and criminally underrated. I went back to American Made after getting into that album and I was super disappointed haha. I can see how people expecting more of that style from the debut wouldn't be super into the follow up though.
Yeah, two pretty different albums. I really respect what they did by absolutely GOING for it. Not everything on Which Side Are You On hits, but it's pretty damn interesting and I really do enjoy it
Not a reference I expected to see this morning! I remember checking out their demos before the album came out and some of the tracks were so similar to of some early GC tracks. But I still enjoyed back in the day. Poor Aaron Escolopio eh.
I always loved After School Special and Only One. Used to listen to those so much. Always thought the album art was interesting too. On a GC note, my vinyl for Chronicles and GMR should be coming today. Now they just need to put out Cardiology. However that wasn't released by epic so there are probably different rights involved.
I got a shipping notification for self-titled on Saturday, but it hasn't made it to the mail carrier yet
Really digging how the vinyl variants came out. Only funny thing was Urban Outfitters shipped them in an absolutely ginormous box lol.
I had never heard of Wakefield before. Are they GC adjacent for real (as in somehow associated with them) or is it just because they are, uh, GC inspired?
Wild. He left GC, which would become kind of a juggernaut, to join what sounds like a GC knock off (I liked the stuff I listened to actually, but wow) that then fizzled out. That sounds like a TV show.
They did have 2 major label releases I suppose. But yeah, did not work out commercially compared to GC. Lead singer has been running a recording studio for years now.
