The River doesn't necessarily fit with the tone of the rest of the album, but it's still a banger of a song.
Haven’t listened to GMR in probably 15 years now it seems. I’ll have to revisit. I will say Cardiology got a lot of plays from me, and I wasn’t expecting that when it was released.
GMR just came out a few years too early and there shoulda been a bridge album between it and Chronicles. I don't think anyone guessed at the time that their next album would be full of I Just Wanna Lives haha
Completely agree about the self titled album. I love that album, definitely my favorite of theirs. I remember seeing them during their self titled touring days before they blew up with Lifestyles, those concerts were so much fun. I feel like they were the first band I really followed from the start before they got super popular.
does anyone have that Madden Brothers mixtape? Kinda interested to hear what they did on that but it's basically scrubbed from the internet. Hit me up if you have it!
I know!!!! I totally would have it if I didn't give up on the band after Chronicles though. I'm trying to give a listen to everything I hadn't heard before and the completionist in me needs to hear it!!
I had it once, but I do not know where it is now and I don’t remember anything about it, so if you find it, please hook me up too. The album is also good and not on Spotify (over here at least). I have a signed vinyl copy though lol
I'm only 3 songs into this Madden Brothers mixtape and it's pretty fucking wild, also very much a sign of the times (Kreayshawn, The Cook Kids, MGK til recently). It's not good, that's for sure, but it's definitely interesting. As much as the MGK song sucks, the way the flipped the Skrillex song actually makes for a solid beat, but that's all I have to say there. At least it seems like the brothers were also self aware of this being "jsut for fun" and not trying to be anything that it's not.
Greetings From California has some enjoyable stuff. Nice to hear them go in a pretty different direction, and it's also pretty funny how different from the mixtape this is, but overall not bad.
Yeah I listened to it recently, it’s a fun album. It’s just an obscure album to have a signed copy of, that’s what I meant.
Haven't heard much from the band since that single at the end of 2020. Hoping they have something in the works. When they go radio silent, they sure go radio silent.
Didn’t they cancel a tour for personal reasons? I think they might just be waiting for whatever that reason is to resolve
For some reason I forgot about the 2020 single so the latest update I remembered from them was the European tour cancellation back in 2019. Hope everything is going okay in their camp. edit: I thought their subreddit would have more info, instead I found out about this unreleased song
Wait this song got released? I remember reading about it years ago, maybe even before the album came out (like pre release previews). Cant wait to listen! Edit: why was this song not on the album? It’s great! This just made my day!
Here is an article where they mention it: Good Charlotte Return to Rock Roots on Spring LP “Cardiology”
Been in a GC mood this week. First album still my fave. Young and the Hopeless still holds up great besides Girls and Boys and Bloody Valentine. Wondering is a great song. Finally listened to Revival in full, never did. The River is one of their best (I've always liked that one.) Keep Your Hands Off My Girl is one of the worst songs I ever heard though lol. All Black is really bad too. Overall not into that record at all.
