Bumping this hard this holiday break - would have loved to have seen a full project collaboration between Peep and GC.
I don't have a source, but I'm almost certain I saw something mentioned at some point when the album came out.
Listening to Cardiology for the first time in a long while and it's much better than I remember? It's like a mix of Good Morning Revival and the debut but it's more consistent than both. Like It's Her Birthday remains their nadir though
Oh okay there's some Chronicles influence in the interludes and the ballads too. I wish I would've liked it when it came out.
I definitely like it much more now than I did then. About half the songs I think are even really great.
I also really like There She Goes, 1975 and Silver Screen Romance. I kind of think that with this album, Good Morning Revival and The Chronicles Of Life And Death they kind of did things bands like All Time Low would do years later, but unlike say ATL people didn’t give them the credit they deserve. Though they never really did get they credit they deserve, no matter which phase they were in.
i still die on the hill that crash should've not only been on the album, but replaced like it's her birthday as the lead single, especially if they were going for an "old-meets-new" sound for the radio single or whatever. people mostly shrugged at cardiology at the time, but there's so many good tracks. i especially loved there she goes because back then it really took me back to when gc were my go-to band
only songs i don't care for are birthday, the title track, and harlow's song. i hate saying that because that should've been one of the most beautifully-written songs on the album if not their whole career, and instead it's a misfire
Cardiology is definitely an album I didn’t care for what it came out but ended up coning around on it big time. The back half is so good.
I think their early edgy teen punk image and some dumb lyrics hurt them in the long term (perception wise, otherwise they're doing more than fine)
Harlow is also a favorite of mine thanks to the strong Chronicles feel, but it sounds like it belongs on a different album. Its inclusion is weird.
