To be fair, joel said it an interview that the song isn’t necessarily about working. I forgot what he said though. But it’s definitely one meaning to take from the song.
I also like the album because i like that the album really feels like a semi conceptual album in the sense where all the songs do feel like they fit this particular album and theme. Im a big sucker for intro tracks AND it has a legit closing song. Its lacking the punk in pop punk....but I just think the album is "very nice" and memorable.
I mean there are plenty of songs rhat could be a simple plan or a soft nfg song I think this is thier best album since young and hopeless so
It'd be under YA at this point, so top 4, maybe top 3 depending on how I feel about the debut on any given day. Y&TH and YA are still tops.
Way too early rankings after the newest being out for a few weeks: 1. Y&TH (this is the album that got me into music in 7th grade) 2. Youth Authority (I liked this when it came but, but have grown to like it even more as time has gone on) 3. Motel du Cap (recency bias might be putting it over Generation Rx, but it may end up here anyway) 4. Generation Rx (it's been discussed previously, but this was just a bit too short of an album) 5. Self Titled (this one has moved up for me recently) 6. Chronicles (Ghost of You might be my least favorite song in their discography, otherwise enjoy most of this one) 7. Cardiology (totally "fine" record during a time that would lead to their first hiatus) 8. Good Morning Revival (hate putting this here since it has some of my favorite GC songs) I'd love to do a more detailed write up of each record at some point, but I'm not much of a writer lol. @Jason Tate what would be your top 5 or 10 songs from their discography? Additionally, favorite song from each album?
So i decided to go back to the Madden Brothers record this morning, having not listened to it in years. Maybe it's because I'm older, but this album is way better than I remember. Now I wish I had the vinyl (I think I have the cd somewhere still).
Same. I made note to check it out sometime soon but between all the great albums that came out on Friday that discovery may be farther out than I first thought
I’ve somehow never listened to GC minus the hits but Rejects caught my attention on here a few weeks ago, then loved Stepper, so finally got around to checking out the album and I really enjoy it. Kept 9 of the songs and will definitely catch them on a future tour. Where would y’all recommend I go next in the catalogue?
It's definitely more of a "how it sounds"/vibe kind of thing. Hard to explain. It just does nothing for me. But I can totally see how others would dig it. It's not a bad song objectively, and obviously it fits within the theme of the album. Are you a fan of it?
It’s not one I come back to that often, I just remember being a a fan of how those keyboards kind of swirled and took over the sound of the track from the guitars.
