It's probably because I didn't keep up with most of their recent albums (or their personal lives for that matter), but I was surprised by the amount of God/religious references in this haha. I must not have been paying attention. Not saying that as a good or bad thing either. I just wasn't expecting that. I assume that's been in the music for a while now?
Yeah I agree re: sequencing. Intro followed by the 2 singles flows really well. Then you have 3 straight songs with guests. Definitely would like those broken up more. Closer is great though and very enjoyable album overall
I'll be curious to see what types of venues they end up playing for the U.S. tour. Joel has hinted that they might be somewhat bigger ones. I would assume they could fill them at this point, especially if they tour with the right band.
Last time GC toured the UK it was an one off show at Ally Pally 2019 I could see them so maybe a co headline uk arena tour with someone of similar popularity
I have no gauge on their draw now. The last time they placed NYC it was at a 3k capacity venue and it was not sold out. But that was also 7 years ago. The nostalgia drug is hitting very hard lately.
The new Good Charlotte album didn't even break into the top 100 of the UK album chart at all, bit of a shocker!!
Still waiting for the US charts to come through but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't crack the top 100 here either. Actually kind of surprised to see such a tepid response to this release considering the recent boom in pop punk nostalgia. The streaming numbers have been pretty tame compared to say Yellowcard's new songs.
Not that surprised considering they didn't extensively tour first and didn't ride the nostalgia wave with anniversary shows either. Perhaps the rollout was so short it didn't really allow them to remind that many people they were back as well?
Bummer but not a huge surprise. Simple Plan had like 5 x No 2 albums in Canada then the last one hit 84 in 2002. Way it's been going for a while.
Honestly it doesn’t seem like the band cares too much about the charts at this point. They put out a good album, fans are enjoying it, and they are going to do a tour that should sell pretty well. Plus, Rejects is still doing pretty good on the alternative charts.
The fans response has been pretty mixed actually. People on here seem to like it but reddit is a different story
I know a few people in real life that r huge GC fans but had no idea that they released an new album until I told them a few days ago and they were surprised!
