Tracklisting: Born For One Thing Amazonia Another World Hold On New Found Fortitude The Chant Sphinx Into The Storm The Trails Grind
I'm new to Gojira, but love pretty much everything I've heard from various playlists and checking out the top songs on Apple Music. Anyone have any recommendations on a full length to dive into first?
The NME review said this was recorded in January 2020. Just another example of a Covid delay. Glad this is almost here! Pretty sure I will spin Magma today in celebration.
really feel like this is going to be my summer progmetal album like PTH and CHorse was for me last year. Excited for this.
This is obviously good, but kind of hard to digest with having so many of the singles. Kind of a Bummer that 7 minutes of the album (Fortitude/The Chant) is the same groove without too much else going on. Still have 3 new songs to hear.
First impression is the songs that go hard REALLY go hard and the softer songs leave something to be desired. EDIT: But boy does it end on a high note, Grind is incredible.
I've had two listens and I can't say I love it yet but I am well into a lot of it. And yeah, Grind is great.
I can't put my finger on why because I don't hate it but The Chant is kind of whatever to me, like part of me likes it? I think the actual gang vocal/chanting hook is the part I don't like as much about it. It's sort of....corny to me in a way? I dunno how else to really describe why I don't really vibe with it as much. Everything else has been a blast though
I'm thinking mine this year will be LTE 3 and this one unless BTBAM manages to drop within the next couple months.
It's fine, it just feels half assed, like there's definitely something there, but I wished they kept that one in the oven a little longer.
You're not alone, although I have to say I really like it. The swing and the vocal hook together are too catchy for me not to enjoy it.
New Found is so damn good. The beatdown verses and the similar breakdown make want to rip my sofa in two. And it works so well with the super catchy choruses. This album is sinking in its teeth and not wanting to let go. I'm wanting to give the new Manchester album more attention but I can't break away from this.....
