Have not heard of or seen that film. Bummed to see Wingard leaving, but hoping he gets back into horror or gets some other cool opportunities.
His next movie is a new horror movie with Simon Barrett writing it. I believe it’s shooting this Fall.
Didn’t really like this at all, unfortunately. I did watch Resurrection yesterday so it was funny to see two complete extremes of Rebecca Hall in as many days.
I’m liking this but man there’s a part of me that wishes they went with a Planet of the Apes vibes with this instead of interspersing the human story
Yeah this fucking ruled. Just got done watching. I have some complaints but I got plenty of big monster action and that’s what I’m here for.
seriously. It’s not a great movie but I had a great time watching it. It’s probably my least favorite of the MonsterVerse movies but also probably the one I had the most fun watching. Everyone’s asleep so I’m downstairs watching it alone and when Kong snatches up the little Kong and starts smacking the other apes around I fucking lost it. Kong entertainment levels were off the charts in this one. That came at the expense of Godzilla though, who is my favorite and his part being very meh in this is probably why it’s my least favorite of the MonsterVerse.
Really hope the next one is more Godzilla focused and that they do try to return to a more serious/dangerous tone.
Yeah the fact that this one was knowingly so unserious did so much to make the movie enjoyable. Best of the last 3 (KOTM, GvK)
I like this more than Godzilla vs. Kong and think it's on par with KOTM, which I seem to enjoy more than others.
My son loved this btw. Think he got a new appreciation for Kong after being a big Godzilla fan. KOTM has been on TV a lot lately and is on now and it made me realize I really miss Serizawa and Dr. Chen
Thought the human story was much more toned down which helped. Also Mini Kong was mvp. When he helped Kong with the botched rock trap and grabbed the axe on the way through the portal. Clutch stuff. Also Skar King had a cool design.
