Yeah the running shot is bad. A lot of this looks like some Antman slop.

 

I’m cool with Godzilla’s look. If it’s just for one movie then why not. Just not cool with him running like that. It causes him to lose his sense of mass. The slop is fun in the Showa series because of the suit-mation and the 60s/70s vibe, but here it just feels too Fast and Furious. It looks like it could take itself seriously, but it doesn’t so there is a distracting conflict in the way it looks and the way it feels.

Anyway, the new trailer for Monarch shows more Godzilla and made me much more excited than The New Empire trailer did.

 

Truthfully, that running shot would be better if it was on a beach and they were wearing swimming trunks.

 

I think the running shot would be better if Godzilla was running on all fours. Seeing him sprinting looks uncanny

 

It would be better if it was near a body of water and Godzilla was swimming at high speed while Kong was running.

 

He's not a dog, oakhurst.

 

In Kong's defense, he's kind of a symbol of man's destruction of nature and desire to control his environment vs. co-existing with it. Kong just wanted to live on Skull Island. But we took him from his home because we fucking suck as a species.

Kong was also an example of man’s perversion of what they saw as “exotic” and how the forceful implementation of the “exotic” into a western society would lead to exploitation and death.

Skull Island carried more into the original “man vs nature” message of Godzilla 2014. It worked for what it aimed for.

 

The best direction I can see the MonsterVerse heading in after this is the new “Empire” being a sort of Monster Island co-ruled by Godzilla and Kong.

Have the next film be about climate change/pollution (cane easily work the Hollow Earth into it due to that not going anywhere) and Hedorah can appear as a threat to the monsters living on the island.

This trailer looked so dumb in comparison to -1 and I know I'll be there opening weekend. Seeing Minus One tomorrow night!

Minus One was so fantastic, a real crowd pleaser too

 

I'm still Godzilla over Kong, but Kong has grown on me.
