Incredible first theater experience in over a year, loved how Kong focused the movie was even though I’m Team Lizard

 

I watched King of the Monsters for the first time between Thursday and tonight. Best one by far imo.

 

This was pretty mid but not horrendous like KOTM. I actually really liked the hollow earth sequence where they were following Kong to the magic mountain. Felt very self aware fun stupid while the rest of the plot (namely the MBB stuff) was just stupid stupid

2014 still the best of the bunch by a landslide. I'm due for a rewatch of that one

 

I feel like Kong had absolutely no business being dragged into all that shit and he still saved the day. My fucking King.

My parents have to name EVERY movie EVERY actor/actress ever played in. Hence, we don't watch a lot of movies together...

 

FINALLY just watched. So much fun. I was wincing and vocally ouching during the fights like they were real life blows being thrown. I’m team Godzilla but yeah I did think it was a good job to have the movie be more or less from Kong’s point of view.

I really couldn’t tell you at all what the story was, I mean I kind of got it but also kind of not. But goddamn watching them go at it was intense. Kong has the unfair advantage of having human like emotes so it made you feel bad for him at times when Godzilla was wrecking him. But then I felt bad for Godzilla when Mechagodzilla was fucking him up. I wonder if Godzilla was accepting Kong’s surrender there at the end or if he just realized that Kong was not a danger to humanity.

Happy this happened. I think it felt a little too short and I would have enjoyed even more fighting time between the two. I guess the hollow earth stuff is cool. I don’t like Kong not being on Skull Island anymore but hopefully he can go visit if he wants. He seems happy to be home, hopefully there’s another Kong there somewhere.

 

I’m firmly team Godzilla but can admit that Kong is still badass. All these Kong simps can’t do the same for Godzilla though.

This was just a delightful time and in ways I did not expect either. Fuck yea.

 

I thought I had seen Skull Island, but I was confusing it for the Jack Black King Kong, so finally watched K:SI tonight and man what a fun movie that is.
