Yeah I watched the original and rewatched Skull Island and ultimately switched to Team Kong before seeing this. Glad I did

I still can’t believe some people thought Kong would win. Godzilla beat him both times. It was inevitable. Godzilla is the king of ALL monsters

Yeah when I re-watched Skull Island last week it reminded me that he actually rules. He just wrecks shit in that movie and it’s awesome. Making him the star of the show here may or may not have contributed to why I liked it so much

but he def did not win either fight, though he won the one that mattered with the assist

 

Godzilla is the one who turned his back at the end, all I'm gonna say :)

 

The having reception in Hollow Earth thing is actually really funny though, I didn’t consider that. My first thought was “well they were able to build a vehicle to get there so it’s not a far stretch”, but nah having like perfect internet connection down there is pretty absurd lol

 

You cannot tell me that those white people didn't kill the indigenous people of skull island and steal that little girl.

 

Screw an axe, give Kong a gun

yeah the true Titan king needed an assist with MechaGodzilla (and we’re grateful) but like the monkey needed an assist with his own personal actual death first

 

i hope this sticks around in theaters for a bit because I'd love to see this again on a big screen once I'm fully vaccinated

 

I think in the end, all of us are the true winners.

Also surprised nobody mentioned it, but my favorite shot in the whole film was Godzilla looking at Kong’s ship through the wreckage after the first fight. Clearly it meant Godzilla was a chump who took advantage of a nice ape while he was chained to a boat. Thus a loser, and didn’t win cuz he’s a coward. Kong won.

 

Kong had the full force of the US military industrial complex and a magical Thor axe on his side and he still couldn’t beat an unarmed solo Godzilla

 

i read it's only streaming until 4/30 - so my assumption is you'll still get a theater run through May for it
