Watched King of Monsters last night with the wife to prep for this one that we will watch tonight! So stoked

 

The title card for this is HYPE. One of the best title cards in the last 10 years.

 

Interesting! Godzilla 2014 has one of my favorite credit sequences.

 

Wow yeah I liked this way more than King of the Monsters. Fun as hell.

 

Slightly off topic:

It was confirmed that the older man watching Mothra hatch was indeed an older Dr. Brooks from Skull Island. It will be interesting to see if any older characters from Skull Island are in this

Was gonna watch tonight but my local theater is reopening this weekend and showing this, plus I’m fully vaccinated so uh.... see you guys Saturday night!

 

I know this a movie with a giant radioactive lizard fighting an axe-wielding romantic ape, but the most unrealistic part to me is still "33 stories underground in Pensacola, Florida" lmfao

 

This was everything I wanted it to be. I actually didn’t mind the human parts at all. When Kong ate that creature’s throat/head guts.....chef’s kiss.

This ruled. Easily the best blockbuster to debut on HBO Max in March 2021 as well.

 

Brian Tyree Henry's line about being disappointed he didn't get to hear the rest of the speech killed me.

 

This film went by so fast that the human stuff was whatever. Didn't feel like it dragged once the ball got rolling. I do find it silly that this and KOTM both had a overly long scene about reviving a kaiju from near death.

 

Starting this now and hype is high

 

I’m 45 minutes in and thus far I have 100 feelings and all of them are some form of HELL YEAH

 

Def getting together with a couple of my friends (since we all are vaccinated) and gonna enjoy the shit out of this Saturday!

 

A lot to say peeve-wise

Not my kind of godzilla movie, but it's not really a G "force of nature" movie to begin with.

It's weird to see G move so fast, like a fucking velociraptor

A lot of plot stuff I didn't like but it really felt unimportant. Seems like Godzilla was barely attacking people after all.

The "it's robot Godzilla. No, it's Mechagodzilla" lines made no sense. The kid has no reason to say it. Worst line in the movie imo

All this in your face CGI. Kinda felt cheap to me.
Mecha G looks like a Transformer, a bit cartoony. I think they could have kept the head looking like Gidorah since the skull was in there.

Finally, the whole "rounds" thing was kinda weird. Especially with K having cardiac arrest out of nowhere, either G wanted him alive or not.
These are my peeves. Sorry

That said, nice to see the lame human plot pretty much replaced by a Kong plot haha.

For a King Kong propaganda film, this kicked ass.

 

gonna watch skull island tonight and do king of monsters and this tomorrow

 

This ruled. Exactly what i wanted it to be. BTH was excellent, Kong popping his own shoulder back in was a highlight.

Might even fuck around and watch it again tomorrow.
