As someone who as a kid watched many of the Japanese movies and later on watched a few more and the recent American ones, the only thing I think I'm wistful of in this movie is a bit more of rampage before the finale. Like a second go at a city, although I appreciate that would a) eat more time without advancing the main plot points and b) be hard to reconcile with the approach to the military of the film But also because of that I feel like the film is best appreciated as if you assume the viewer already knows what Godzilla (namely the anti-humanity version) is all about, which obviously many people do.
Before the movie started I was saying my favorite part with "monster" movies is savoring the full reveal and teasing it but not showing right away. My buddy (who was seeing it a 2nd time with us) had to hold back cause he knew Godzilla comes quickly lol And ya know what I learned something ... if the movie is done right I don't care!!
Eh Godzilla 2014 tried that schtick and it ended up being lame so I’m happy minus one didn’t hold back
whaaaaaaaaaaat the scene where he comes out of the ocean in Hawaii and they show his tail going behind the building and then build up to the full reveal at the airport was great!
I actually loved that for Godzilla 2014, with Godzilla not even being the first monster reveal. It's been a decade but when that movie came out I loved it. Pretty sure I saw it in theaters multiple times lol Haven't rewatched it in forever but I know I won't enjoy it as much cause Minus One is simply just the way
i love godzilla '14, very fun monster movie. i remember being so annoyed that they featured Cranston so heavily in all marketing and promos and he was dead in the first 40 minutes lol
Cranston at that time was one of the biggest names coming off Breaking Bad. They featured him heavily in all marketing. We all assumed he was the main character. And BAM dead immediately. Loved the boldness of that!
I was in Hawaii when they were filming Godzilla 2014. Got to watch a shit load of people run down a street and look back like they were looking at Godzilla.
