Also the country was destroyed and people were scattered everywhere, it’s not like he could text her iPhone and say “where you at?”
I’d say the other Japanese Godzilla films with the same tone would be Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Returns (Godzilla 1985), and the first Godzilla in 1954.
Shin seems like my kinda jam from a cursory glance I'll definitely give that a whirl so much good stuff in this but I especially loved the pushback against the heroic sacrifice trope that kept reoccurring. Doc's speech about it not being a fight to the death was absolutely incredible. I can see people feeling the ending was a little tacked on but I really appreciated the fundamental optimism and love of the characters in this. very different from the Legendary stuff recently which while entertaining as fuck is horrible at selling any of the human characters
Wowowowow this was so good. Much better than the shit American ones from the last 10 years. I was so happy she lived! Assuming she has some kind of radiation poison?
I got caught up on Monarch Legacy last night and then rewatched 2014 Godzilla. I liked it way more than I remember.
I’m enjoying Monarch but watching Minus One in the middle and then going back to new episodes of Monarch was disorienting lol. I think Minus One might actually be my favorite Godzilla movie?
