‘98 is actually a good kaiju flick until the babies subplot

 

I was obsessed with the 1998 one as a kid; had the movie poster on my wall, I had a bed blanket with a design from the film, and both bought the book version of the film, and the soundtrack, which I played TF out of.

 

I rewatched it within the last year and a half and I think I just have a soft spot for Roland Emmerich, because it's basically a big, dumb, schlocky mix of Jurassic Park and Aliens, and I fuck with that heavy

 

I think it was the right call to go with a different design and a different take on the big guy

I haven't seen many of his later movies aside from Midway, but his run in the 90's from Universal Soldier to The Patriot is damn epic
