This was my biggest gripe after how poorly they handled Sally Hawkins’ character. It’s strange to assume Madison could just steal the ORCA without one person in a group of ecoterrorists noticing?? Then she just kind of magically is able to get to Fenway Park?

But honestly, these types of movie coincidences are par for the course, so ultimately, it never matters.

So it sounds like the spoilers we got last year were spot on

Thought it was kinda wild that the general just calls in and is like “ we’ve created something called the oxygen destroyer. It’ll be there soon so get out. K peace.” Oxygen Destroyer feels like a pretty big piece of Godzilla lore and they just mentioned it once and then never again.

Yeah, this irked me a little bit. Literally no setup for one of the most significant plot devices of the entire series.

I'd be shocked if there wasn't an extra thirty minutes or so that was cut. I had fun and all, but honestly, it could have used some breathing room.

I've been secretly (or not so secretly I guess) hoping for an extended version of Godzilla '14 with more of Gareth Edwards' gorgeously framed and composed yet grounded in reality and usually ground-level camerawork.

I missed almost all the headlines during the credits aside from the Mothra egg. Someone mentioned a mechanical giant being built on skull island? I need mechas in this series ASAP.

It definitely will be mentioned again. I’m sure the villain will use the Ghidorah head from the end credits to create Destroyah or something.

Yeah that’s what I figure. I don’t think we’ll get any mecha kaiju except maybe jet jaguar.

It is slightly less exciting that it is just a fake CGI Boston. Or Atlanta.

I think I liked Godzilla (2014) more. This one was just a mess. The numerous monsters and fights were cool, though.

Curiously, he didn't destroy TD Garden. :eh:

I still think Shin Godzilla is the best modern Godzilla film. The poor CGI can be forgiven.

    Not possible.

Just kidding, that's obnoxious haha. I think people were surprised though, I literally had no idea, and I kinda pay attention to that stuff.

Still pretty excited to see this hopefully tomorrow.

This is not doing well at all numbers wise for the weekend and that’s a shame

The worst part of this was when they showed two trailers for Dark Phoenix back to back.

I was just perusing boxofficemojo.com, and I was sort of shocked to see that the budget for Kong: Skull Island was $185 million. I liked that movie a lot, but a budget like that seems like setting that movie up for under-performance.

I guess these things just cost a shit ton of money to make... Even $160 million for Godzilla '14 seems high, but that one makes a little more sense with what is on screen I suppose.
