i don't know why but colouring book is something i regularly play in the winter months. i've got this glassjaw interview i did back from when material control came out and i don't really know what to do with it, i was switching jobs and the outlet didn't end up running with it. it was a very strange experience, i had to go out to LI to do it at the merchdirect hq. the lyft took me to the other side of the hqand there were a bunch of dudes just staring at me, glaring. i booked it to the other side and justin told me it was all MS-13 dudes and that they've done some crazy shit. they were way more like, old school NY than i think i was expecting and it was cool. i got to see the merch direct factory too and he showed me some of like the rare GJ stuff like the nikes. he drove me to the train station which was rad.
As the decade comes to a close, I'm really grateful we opened it with an album worth of material then ended it with another one. Hopefully they'll start teasing a new one next year. I'm listening to Our Color Green / Coloring Book back to back and that era has to be their peak. I remember trying to fit both into a single tracklist for years, but I actually think they sound better separated. Each song gets the time to shine that way.
Yeah it's going to be on my list as well. I'm still anxiously waiting for another release in that vein.
I'm not sure that's ever gonna happen, it's such a unique release. like I've never heard anything like "Daytona White" in my life
I can't believe the EPs are coming up on ten years old. Coloring Book is absolutely one of my favorite releases of the decade.
Didn't they put a hint on their website though? It said "we're writing" somewhere but my memories may be foggy.
