Well I'm sure he's also busy with non music stuff. Still I think we all thought a new album was imminent last year after New White Extremity.
It's not the first time he's announced an album only for nothing to happen. It seems to be a habit of his.
Coloring Book is technically 6 years old folks (9 years old actually). It's their White Pony in terms of progress and experimentations. They've truly captured something unique with it and it's fair to say it's their best album. I hope they will properly follow it up, though from the 7 songs we've heard so far, the new album seems to be in the same vein as Our Color Green instead.
Sorry man just got home and saw this. I love tats but I would never get one at a convention like this. Way too crowded, noisy and rushed...I'd prefer to be in a quiet parlor where my artist can focus all his attention on me. Hope your friends tats came out nice though lol What'd you think of the show? Glassjaw was great and all but I'm kinda getting tired of seeing the same set for the last 8 years. They need to release this album soon. Surprisingly I thought Goldfinger won best set of the day.
It was my first time seeing Glassjaw so honestly I was very satisfied... I can imagine getting tired of the same setlists for that long though. My girlfriend and I love The Used too so we had a blast during their set, it was the first time either of us saw them.
Also no worries at all haha, I just had brief moments of downtime while my friends were getting their tats... they actually did turn out nicely, and surprisingly weren't that expensive it seemed like!
Did they play any new songs at all ? How was the setlist like ? I suppose they discarded the Coloring Book songs unfortunately
Setlist: Metal Tip Your Bartender Mu Empire Pink Roses Ape Dos Mil The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports New White Extremity Shira Two Tabs of Mescaline Pretty good set honestly.
Pretty sure Metal was the first time they ever played it. I was surrounded by die hard Glassjaw fans and they all had no idea what it was.
They played it January 2016 in Virginia Beach. I was at that show right by the stage. They played 6 new songs IIRC. Only other show they did that was in the U.K. a few months earlier.
Yeah they've played Metal before. Those Glassjaw fans obviously weren't that hardcore Not sure how I feel about blonde Daryl.
Even if the EYEWTKAS lyrics turn you off, you can't deny the power of the 4 first tracks, Ry Ry's Song is so fucking catchy. I listened to one of the new songs and I'll keep it that way, even if it take years to hear the studio versions. But the new Glassjaw and Brand New albums are the reasons I wake up every day hahaha
EYEW has numerous powerful moments, but they're fleeting and the album as a whole is just so inconsistent. More to the point, I think W&T makes it seem almost obsolete by comparison, at least for me. Everything they did well in spurts on EYEW is incorporated consistently into W&T, alongside several new influences and much stronger songwriting. If I were going to a Glassjaw show, I'd be totally happy with a setlist like yesterday's, chock full of W&T (plus new stuff) and skipping EYEW.
I actually used to think EYEWTKAS was their best work. Yeah idk what I was the thinking. The lyrics are a huge problem, and it doesn't hold up very well imo. Having said that there are some jams. Siberian Kiss, Ry Ry's Song, title track, and Hotel of the White Locust.
