I don't know why I never noticed it before, but I'm relistening to Portishead's albums and now I can't unhear their influence on the Coloring Book EP.
Maybe I said it on this site, or with a friend IRL, but it sounds like the instrumentalists are straight up fist-fighting their instruments on this record and I love it. Beck had to take on guitars, bass, and keys AT THE SAME TIME.
I gave this a spin the other day at work and I think it sounded better than ever. Really is a great record.
can't wait till I get a car with a decent sound system because I feel like this album would absolutely fuck in the car
Still love this album. I can’t wait to see them at slam dunk in Leeds next month. So happy. Saw them at Brixton last year but missed first 4 songs thanks to Uber beinf completely useless. Won’t be missing any of their set this time though.
Happened to see "Decadence" by Head Automatica pop up in my Apple Music recommendations... looks like they finally added that album to streaming!
In college, I always played choice cuts from Decadence at house parties and folks loved it. Listening to that album will always take me back to that time.
@atlas This Joliette band is extremely my shit. Definitely hearing the GJ influence. Also getting some ETID and a little Bear vs Shark in there too. But more than anything I'm getting vibes of Say Hello To Sunshine by Finch.
