I hate it lol. I'm the only one though I guess. I just cant stand that fade out. I understand their reasoning behind it, but it is just meh.
It felt like they tried to do another "john lennon" style jump, just flopped in my opinion. And cut and run is just too short. Its over before it hits you
Nah they didn’t try and do that again. I’d would be been called Paul McCartney if they were trying that
One day I'm gonna write a book about him and how incredibly vital and important his playing has been to so many bands we know and love. Unreal how he's barely ever mentioned when people talk about the modern-day greats, he's my favorite for sure.
"Beck: You're sitting on that bounce the whole track, and the whole record just keeps you bouncing. Structurally, we're always playing on that dotted third, where there's always a constant counter-rhythm that keeps the listener rolling, you know." This man's a fucking genius, dude.
Yeah, and at least he's audible on all but one of their albums. I'm sure he's shredding on Gore, it's just hard to tell
Agreed. That’s really my only issue with Gore. That the mix is not good, and you can’t really hear Abe or Sergio that well.
I was so into this when I first played it I didn’t realize Bastile Day was a interlude lol. I thought it was part of Pompeii. I like that they put interludes on an already short punk album ha. These guys are great. I also loved reading all the interviewes/articles you guys posted. Really put some context around the album. I like that they talk about using a friend who studied music in the Middle East to lay down a beat, and also that the last track is akin to Anthrax albums. Never really listened to Anthrax, but it’s obvious they were trying to subvert expectations on the closing track by it being just a normal track.
Gore is easily my least favorite of the three they’ve made since Serg has been a part of the band, and honestly might be my least favorite of theirs outside of Adrenaline. Still a good album, but there’s something about it that keeps me from fully loving it.
I like the sound but that hook is really shoddy imo. I guess it works as an opener, but the two songs after it are so immense that it makes up for it
My favorite song on Gore is probably Doomed User and everyone seemed to hate that song so idk lol And yeah, this album has done nothing but grow on me, so happy with it now.
Yeah it definitely gets better the more I listen. Still not entirely in love with the mix, wish Daryl's vocals were clearer
Acid Hologram is my fav off Gore and an all time favorite Deftones song even if yeah Gore is probably in the lower half of their discography for me. I've got Glassjaw, Color Film, and Head Automatica in a playlist and it is Good
Deftones are great and have put out a metric fuckton of good records, but tbh I feel like GJ is just on a slightly higher plane, creatively. W&T and MC are both better than any single Deftones album, in my book. To be fair, I guess holding back and only releasing stuff twice a century could help.
