Unrelated but I was just listening to You Think You’re Fucking John Lennon and I jumped at 1:27 mark. Still after all these years... lol
Best part? It's just as jarring live, too. They're good at just chilling while the sample plays until the very last second when it sounds like the world is collapsing on itself.
this part made me laugh. So this record was inspired by tourists being in your way and that kind of stuff? Beck: Everything. Tourists in your way and also acting as you're the only person in your own environment. Everybody is so stupid. It's just constant. Go on social media, just watching the state of youth and music, it numbs my fucking brain where people are at right now. Fuck.
Working in the service industry in a tourist trap, I agree 100%. And it's not just tourists... everyone is oblivious how to act in public. ME ME ME.
this question got me hyped tho This is probably Glassjaw's heaviest album yet. Where does the fire come from?
Lol so i've seen them 3 times, and every time they open with John Lennon, but this last time Beck was having guitar difficulties at start. The intro played, almost got to the end, but then it stopped as they tried to figure out why he wasn't getting any feedback. They restarted it, the band and Daryl starts as normal the second time, but Beck's guitar cut out again. So, I listened to just Travis, Chad, and Daryl for the entire song until more than halfway through the bridge and it was awesome.
"To get it right, it's a personal thing that we knew that we were able to do but we never nailed it that way... and the record is tasteful. It's far more tasteful than the ignorant silliness of saying disrespectful things on a record because you're a child and you're acting like a child. I think we went past a lot of that on this one." I like this Daryl calling himself out multiple times over the rollout of this album period
Probably why they don't play anything off EYEWTKAS anymore... aside from Siberian Kiss (and occasionally Pretty Lush)
I’m pretty sure I heard both of those and another old one at the last show. However, I stated before that I think Daryl may be switching his lyrics up now. Even in Jesus Glue and some others it looks like he tweaks lines here and there. I’m really loving this whole ordeal with this album. It’s much needed for me, and Daryl being fully aware and essentially writing off his previous work before W&T being mysogynistic is a mature and proper thing to do. It’s been touched on a few times on here when this hype started to build again and I’m glad he’s not dodging it.
When, besides that interview, did he call himself out recently? Not doubting it, just haven’t seen it.
Couldnt point you to a statement directly but he's called himself out before. I believe ape dos mil is even about it if im not mistaken
Razorlines this was during the W&T rollout and he admits to it there. seems his conviction has only gotten stronger because i want to say i remember a more recent-ish interview where he was very upset with himself over that album but i dont remember where i read it. i think it was like AP or something but i cant find it anywhere.
