I loved this as much as Knives Out. KO was definitely tighter and the smarter of the two, but this one had me in stitches. Almost everything Craig does as Blanc makes me laugh - even when he’s not really trying to be funny.

In regards to the rest of the group cutting ties, I thought it was just a very realistic outcome and shows how full of shit they all are. The whole movie they’re desperate to hold on to the “golden breasts” until they see they’re on a sinking ship and jump at the first chance they get.

Nice little detail I went back and checked for - you can see the voice recorder land in Birdie’s bag when she’s talking about how she used to have power over Miles. Proper blink and you’ll miss it stuff.

Definitely understand those that would rather RJ take his time and craft something as clever as Knives Out again, or move on to something completely new, but I’d happily watch another 100 of these. Benoit Blanc, a varied supporting cast, a unique location, and a whodunnit. That’s all I need!

  3. I think going from a cunning villain in one film to a dumb one the next is a clever move in and of itself

  4. Also, Janelle Monae is just as great in this as Ana de Armas was in Knives Out

Benoit’s drip was much stronger this time around.

Ill watch it again, but my initial reaction is that i didnt really enjoy it even half as much as knives out. I enjoyed the set up, and the middle twist of reframing events, but it felt severely on the nose at times with its satire, and had very little mystery after a certain point. as soon as it was revealed Caddandra was dead, it was just waiting for when Miles to be revealed as the killer, not who could it be? His look of shock at the beginning was too big of a clue.. I also thought the ending was extremely cheesey in both shooting and filming with some of the shots, dialogue and circumstances overly contrived and lacking subtlety.

On the plus side, it had some fun moments. It wasnt a total bust, but a big meh after one watch.

No way would the general public know that it was a KO sequel if just “Benoit Blanc” was in the title. Really, Johnson should be shoehorning his name into each script as much as possible to make it stick

For what it's worth the movie itself notably just goes with Glass Onion in both the opening and closing credits. The Knives Out Mystery bit was purely for marketing and I think makes sense in that regard.

This one really felt too farcical and silly the more I think about it. I only watched Knives out once, so maybe it needs another watch to refresh (and maybe I'm wrong on some of these points?), but it felt like whacky characters in a pretty grounded world, and this one felt like whacky characters in a whacky world. From the contrived twin to Benoit being over the top in everything (his smarts/dress sense/dialogue), to the whole Musk (not musk) creating a fuel that was literally unstable and not safe and the need to explain he'd be mentioned in the same breath as the Mona Lisa - like, we all made that connection without the line being needed was all far too much for me as far as 'corniness/cheesiness' goes.

I also think the structure didn't leave much mystery as others have said more eloquently. I get it was meant to be the way it was, but it didn't work for me. After the mid movie reveal, and thinking back to the beginning, it was extremely obvious how it was going to go and the only mystery was how the dots would be connected, not where the dots led.

  19. Other than Benoit Blanc I was not feeling this ensemble. Even Dave Bautista and Kathryn Hahn were boring which I thought was impossible.

Anyway this was fun but it doesn't touch the first one.

I thought Benoit was the whackiest character of the whole thing. Honestly I was waiting for Claire and Lionel to get a little less grounded

Just finished this. I didn’t like it as much as the first. I really enjoyed the first half, but the second half become muddled and the length of the explanations really took me out of the film.

  23. Haha what? I've always put the h in there
    but then there's this!

  24. I hope in the next movie the cast is all eccentric and over the top, like Jared Leto in House of Gucci level of unhinged
