So I didn't really check this out much before, but I'm listening again now. There's something very MCR (mentioned earlier in the thread) and maybe even Razia's Shadow era Forgive Durden about the feel on some of these songs, but filtered through The Hotelier and Joyce Manor. Pretty wild.
When you do something as audaciously weird and tuneful as this and pull it off, you deserve all the credit in the world. Works insanely well as an album too.
This album is crazy, I'm on my first listen and I already feel like it could make my top 10 of the year.
I don't have a lot to credit Anthony Ronald McDonald for but at least he'll turn a bunch of people on to this album, the best goddamn debut LP of 2019. edit: holy shit I forgot we're still censoring F*ntano on here hahahah
He's turned me on to so many great acts over the years. Kero Kero Bonito and Brain Tentacles come to mind.
RFC has been a fantastic label for 10 years now, honestly. the period of 2012-2017 was unbelievable, as strong as any indie label has had this decade imo.
the more i think of this album, the more i appreciate how all over the place it is. Tons of AJJ, Bomb the Music Industry, early 2000's emo vibes.
Missed this cause I'm a dumbass but it rules so I forgive myself for not being more than a year late.
Extremely angry at myself for sleeping on this for so long. Wtf how did they do this and pull it off so well???? Agree with literally every influence that’s been mentioned in this thread. I haven’t heard something this creative and exciting in a LONG time.
