Literally no reason to assume. Legitimately goofy to do so, IMO

 

Famously no one has ever been cut from a movie before!

 

Yeah I’m not gonna jump to that, though I don’t doubt it at all, but I highly doubt Ridley had a say in it. Either way, it’s lame she was completely cut. Based on what I’ve heard of the movie, it sounds like her storyline was needed.

 

Ridley Scott famously doesnt change anything about his movies throughout the course of production. He’s definitely never released a director’s cut

 

I'm not even saying it was Ridley Scott's decision. But by the same token, there's literally no reason to assume it's not just because he's Ridley Scott.

At the end of the day though, it's still a frustrating, frustrating decision to have made in a climate where Palestinians need as much recognition and leverage as they can get, and the mainstream is very much clearly out to minimize them.

Especially if she was billed as a major lead before this happened.

Also, going back to this statement, this sounds really dumb the more I think about it, because if it was the reason, do you really think anyone would outright say that? Come on.

I think we can all agree her being cut just sucks. We’ll probably never know the real reason. But it still sucks.

Just got out of this; a worthy follow up to the first film. Doesn’t quite carry the emotional punch the first one did, but the set pieces and the action are incredible. Music very HGW, but I miss the Hans Zimmer touch.


Also, RS has said in an interview that he had to cut out quite a lot; I think his original cut was well over 3 hours, so he plans to do a director’s cut at some point.

im going to hold off on saying any actor being cut from something "sucks" considering we literally know nothing about how the character was written or how the scenes came across until/if we ever see deleted scenes or whatever. y'all get so worked up over literally nothing all the time.

People's feelings of the film I feel will really depend on what your expectations are going on; just spoke to my colleague at work and he saw the film last night and hated it. Felt it was completely unnecessary, and had no substance whatsoever. I however enjoyed it, in that I went in wanting entertainment, sandals and swords fighting, and that's what I got, so I liked it. Will be curious to see what the crowd here thinks of it this weekend.

 

Thought this was mostly great but a few things didn’t work for me. Namely the monkey, sharks, and Fred Hechinger

 

It's pretty empty but the gladiator fights are sick.

Mescal didn't really work for me here. I think he's good actor but maybe not a movie star? I'm not ready to write him off yet if he gets another shot at a big blockbuster
