I’ll fight anyone who doesn’t think Bridesmaids is his best film, Freaks and Geeks is his greatest overall, and Tim from Heavyweights is his best role.

Naw, the fantasy baseball guy from Knocked Up is his best role.

Feig’s greatest achievement is clearly the Dinner Party episode of The Office

I love F+G and parts of ASF but not a fan of much else. I admit I was initially upset about their decision to leave the original world behind with the girls (and I loathe McCarthy) but I went into the film wanting to enjoy it. I liked how ridiculous Kate was in it, but really did not enjoy it. Happy this is moving forward in a different direction.

I like "Bridesmaids," but I think it's about 20 minutes too long. "Spy" is still my favorite film of his just based on Jason Statham's character alone. And Bobby Cannavale makes such a great villain.

Spy is my favorite of his hands down, but all of this discussion of Paul Feig's work has kinda made me realize that he runs hot-and-cold for me movie wise. I'm gonna have a martini and rewatch Ghostbusters '16 as soon as I can, and I've been very curious about A Simple Favor. I had no idea he did so many episodes of TV shows that I love like The Office, Arrested Development, Nurse Jackie & Mad Men.

  10. I think The Heat and Spy are both hilarious. I really like them both.

  11. Yeah this is a bummer and was almost my first thought - I hope no ones upset. Their film was good!!

I get that she has a different outlook on this since she was harassed off social media, but she knows better. The fact is that movie wasn't a critical or finical hit, so she knows why they aren't doing a sequel to her movie, it's the way the business has always been.

Calling out the studio who took a chance on something different isn't a good look and I hope it doesn't hurt her career. Didn't anyone learn from the Josh Trank thing?

I think the biggest problem is the barely-coded way the new film was announced, specifically the way Reitman has described it. Saying "this one's for the fans" is basically the same thing as saying "don't worry fellas, we promise there are no females in this one." Plus it's ignoring that film's existence entirely. So I pretty much get where she's coming from here. It's insulting and unnecessary.

I meant as a professional actor, she knows its a bad look and she is ignoring the reasoning. I agree it would be eyebrow raising of the 2016 movie was beloved and made a ton of money.

Please don't turn this into something it's not.

Nobody is saying they had to make a sequel to the 2016 film. They have the rights to the IP, they can do with it whatever they want. The problem is that they're going about it in pretty much the most toxic and disrespectful way possible, and Leslie is completely justified in being frustrated with that.

Agreed, esp with what I said about her being targeted in harassment over that movie. I still think as a professional, openly slamming the movie looks poor on actors. I think any actor saying something like this is a bad move when their movie gets rebooted.

I'll stop though because trying to have a conversation isn't a thing on the internet.

The problem isn't that she's "openly slamming the movie." She's responding to the complete and total disrespect that Reitman has demonstrated toward her and her co-stars and everyone behind the camera for the hard work they did on the 2016 film. Whether it was a financial success or not, whether it was critically acclaimed or not, the way this whole announcement has been handled has been exceedingly in poor taste and focused entirely on pandering to the exact people who targeted Leslie for harassment over the previous film. Where is the professionalism there? So really, the actual person you should be directing your criticism to is Reitman for how he has been slamming the 2016 film by promising his movie will be "for the fans." That's what really reflects poorly on the person saying it, not what Leslie said. At all.

Do you get why it looks bad that you're directing these statements toward Leslie and not toward the real person who is wrong in this situation (Reitman)?

Also since when does someone have to show “professionalism” about a project that they aren’t even involved in, especially if all they’re doing is calling out how toxically something is being handled?

I can see all that, but that wasn't the point of my statement at all.

I stated that I feel for her, I agree with her frustration, I hope her career doesn't get hurt (I'm a fan). I still think it's a terrible look. It's a terrible look on Reitman as well. If you were Sony, would you like her statements? I was looking at it from that POV. Like I said, I hope it doesn't turn into a Josh Trank situation. That's all I'll say on it since this seems to be turning into something I didn't want or meant.

Leslie's career is going to be just fine. Because she's not wrong. And everyone knows she's not wrong. Also it by definition can't be a Josh Trank situation because it's in no way comparable to that scenario at all.

I'm just trying to help you understand where you may have some biases or blind spots with regard to this situation. The point of your statement was to say that Leslie shouldn't have said what she said; the fact of the matter is that she is totally justified in saying what she said and speaking out is the only way anything gets changed for the better. Reitman should honestly have to apologize for the disrespect he's shown every single person who worked on Ghostbusters 2016.

Also I don't care what Sony likes or doesn't like about her statement, to be honest. I don't care to look at things from their point of view, either. They're co-signing some pretty bad statements by Reitman so they're coming across just as bad as he is, in my opinion.

The whole thing is so weird, considering Reitman’s bigger hits have been movies that prominently feature women. But if there’s anyone that should have an opinion on this, it’s Leslie. No one went through more bullshit than her and since she has job security, she should speak her mind.

First of all Leslie is taking this way too personally, this is a sequel that fans of the ORIGINAL franchise have been wanting for 30 years. It has nothing to do with sexism like she’s trying to make it in one of her rants, because the original film was all men...not to mention the rumor mill is telling us this new one will feature new teenage ‘Busters but has yet to comment on the sex and number of the teens, so they can still feature a new group of possibly both genders. Feig had a shot at a new franchise, it didn’t quite work out but they still tried. Personally I wasn’t mad at it, I’ll never understand the hate, but at the end of the day Sony lost over $50 million as a result.

And second, this is some immature shit and another example of why actors, musicians, politicians, etc. need to be careful about what they publicly post on social media. I completely understand where she’s coming from and I’m sure she was in the moment when she posted her rants (which I’m pretty sure have since been “deleted”), but still...the internet’s written in pen, not pencil.
