What kind of closure do you need about a comedy about fighting ghosts?

The film was closure for everyone waiting for the film to actually be made. If I’m waiting decades for a film that has always been rumored to start production numerous times only for something to delay it over and over and over again then yeah, the release of said film will provide closure.

the first movie is bill murray aggressively trying to sleep with someone + ghost busting, i can’t believe there is investment in any fucking lore here, nostalgia-horny nerds are the worst shit that ever happened to culture

Internet culture will forever be a struggle between people trying to enjoy things and people determined to stop them at all costs.

Yeah, it isn't Lord of the Rings or something like that. It is like saying the world can't move on until we get the end of the Anchorman trilogy.

The video game was better closure to the series than Afterlife since it reunited everyone and you could actually have fun with it.

I still stand by that the first is NOT a good movie. 2 and this one are both fun

The first ghostbusters is the only good one imo. 2nd was meh, never saw 2016 and afterlife was okay. Still, I’m not going to pretend that the first 2 films didn’t have a cult following and a fanbase that had been looking forward to a third film for decades.

  10. Y'all are freaks lol all the movies are fine with the first two being significantly better for nostalgic value alone. People with a soft spot for the new films seem to overcorrect by calling the original films not good (usually to justify the new ones being not good), but again, if you like the Ghostbusters, it's all kinda the same shit. To act like they're anything more than that, or conversely, to pretend like they don't have real value for some people because a bunch of toxic nerds went rabid in 2016 seems silly to me

Then again, I've also never watched Rick and Morty for that exact reason so I guess I get it

  11. That post wasn't meant to sound so aggressive, I just think of all the franchises to have strong opinions about (either way), it's kinda bizarre and fascinating that Ghostbusters is one that still brings that out in people

Ghostbusters are nerds are the weirdest. Its just a strange thing to build an identity on and get up in arms about. It’s like if “Vacation” nerds lost their minds every time they release a new, terrible reboot.

saying Ghostbusters is a classic that aged poorly isn't controversial and also describes a lot of 80s movies haha

Sorry didn’t realize my post meant people weren’t allowed to like the movies! I have some crazy powers I guess.

People are always like “let people enjoy whatever makes them happy and stop shit posting.” But what if what makes me happy IS shitposting! No one ever considers that.

Like, I know obsessive fanboyism is a definite and obnoxious problem, but I also feel like the people up in arms on the other side could stand to have a little more self-awareness.

    Watched this yesterday afternoon.

The actress who plays Phoebe was fantastic, but oh man, the last act would've been infinitely better without the parade of the old cast members.

(And I literally exclaimed 'Jesus Christ' at my TV when Hakeem Woodbine told the kids they had one phone call, so..."Who ya gonna call?")

  24. I enjoyed this - they made Gozer super sexy in this one - wish it had the the shitty CGI of the original
