I really enjoyed/borderline loved 80% of this - but it came pretty close to a full derailment from golden dress on. Who would have thought that my least favorite part of a ghostbuster movie in 2021 is any part with the ghostbusters in it!? Lol

interested to see if this makes any money to justify continuing on with these kids, who I throughly enjoyed. Phoebe was delightful.

Even with a delay due to COVID people are hating this? Figured they had enough time to make sure this was a masterpiece.

Yeah, this was mostly a stinker, considering the talent involved.

Almost every cameo is worse than the one that preceded it, with the “ultimate” one being so bad that you want to turn off the movie screen. I have the same problems with it that I have with “Halloween Kills,” where it trades story and character arcs for references.

It’s also not really funny or clever. One of the biggest laughs I had was the clearly ADR’d line of McKenna Grace saying “So…this is happening…”

I was hoping this would be accessible but would most of the movie be lost on my girlfriend who has never seen any of the originals?

I def don’t think lost, but prob wouldn’t enjoy it as much?

I think a kid would enjoy it without knowing the lore of it all. She’ll just wonder who those three old guys are at some point in the movie.

A horror page I follow on FB just made a post about a cameo (which I don’t think was announced before) which did spoil it for me a little

oh no, Grown Ups 2 is an exercise in neo-surrealism akin to Freddie Got Fingered.

Grown Ups 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen and considerably worse than Adam Sandler's regular output. It's an exercise in how much money can be wasted

Grown ups 2 is great. Shaq throws someone over a house.

To be fair, when Jason Reitman was on the top of the world and was asked about doing a Ghostbusters film, he said it would be boring.

  17. Had no idea I was seeing this tonight until 15 minutes before the showing. I was pretty skeptical about the fan service/nostalgia porn elements, and...they're definitely there. Not only that, but they stand out like a sore thumb during a movie that is otherwise pretty fun.

I liked this more than I didn't, and there are parts of it that work (the midsection in particular). The performances are good. The score is great. But the cameos, the mini marshmallow men, the product placement...I know it's just a movie about a bunch of kids catching ghosts, but boy is it distracting. And that's without getting into the kid named Podcast. Or Muncher.

So, yeah...mixed bag. The first two films should have just been left alone, but that was never going to happen, so here we are. And that ending is going to be extremely polarizing. CGI Ramis getting an insane amount of screen time (without dialogue, obviously) is certainly a choice. The sentiment is sweet, but people were laughing in our theater. It was kind of painful.

Let me start with I was born in 1984 and was obsessed with the original from like 4 years old to whenever Ninja Turtles came out lol.
I remember seeing Ghostbusters 2 in the theater with my family. ANYWAYS, quick take away from opening night screening

I'm a bit indifferent. I didn't dislike it and there was a ton of fan service and nostalgia, just was slow for first half. And I still wish they weren't kids, but young adults in like 20s. The storyline was cool, but they literally used the same plot line as original Ghostbusters (Goozer, Keymaster, Gatekeeper) Atleast it was a direct sequel though and not remake. They explained all the 80s stuff, where they are 30 years later, and even more. The "more" didn't seem that special, but wasn't terrible. I found the initial first sighting (jail phone call) more enjoyable then the final act appearance. The movie was definitely a touching dedication to Harold Raimes and I'm ok with that. They did it in good taste and I really didn't think the CGI was disrespectful. Only part I actually got teary eyed on. Great execution.
I do not need another Ghostbusters movie though. I'm happy I found out what exactly happened to the OGs, and not interested enough in the new ones (kids.)

I’ve never really seen the originals from start to finish but I really enjoyed this. The crowd seemed to enjoy it also. People were loving the Walmart scene. I guess thanks to Grogu we gotta have these cute characters in everything now. I thought it was done well here.

They did not bother me nearly as much as the key master shit or most of the OG cameos
