This is such a ridiculous overreaction, who the fuck cares about the Golden Globes?

 

I truly can’t fathom thinking Get Out is a comedy. There are funny moments, absolutely, but....

 

It’s as funny as The Martian

 

But I actually thought The Martian was far funnier than Get Out. Matt Damon is a hoot.

Can’t believe I let time convince me this wasn’t one of my favourite movies of the year. Watched it again tonight and it’s incredible

I’m a slave to recency bias. If I were only a bit weaker I’d go around for the next week saying Jumanji is my favourite film of the year

 

Finally got around to seeing this. Loved it.

 

Just watched this for the first time. Wow. That was an interesting film, to say the least haha.

 

Watching it again right now because of the Oscar noms, and I noticed that the cop scene in the beginning could easily be read a different way than I perceived it the first few times. It popped into my head that the cop asking for ID from Chris could be a genuine, non-racist request, given that young black men have been disappearing in that area. Maybe the cop wanted to get a name/address in case he went missing. Which would mean that Rose wasn’t actually sticking up for her boyfriend but trying to keep the actions of her family hidden. Am I way off here?

This is what I believe minus the cops good intentions. I think the cop was just asking to ask, but rose freaked because she didn't want any record of Chris being there.

 

They actually point this out in the Honest Trailer.

 

Yeah that makes sense. I just had a feeling that the cop wanted to explain his reasoning but held back. It could absolutely be that his intentions were bad.
