First, what does locking/unlocking W Engines do?

 

Also does this mean I’m in preview mode and can’t unlock new agents? For example if I wanted to just buy this agent or any other I can’t?

 

I believe locking them is to prevent you from selling them to the gadget shop in case you wanna use them for someone else. Also if you have dupes of the same engine, you can unlock them and sell them as is or feed them to the w-engine to increase its star rating.

yeah that’s correct, since you didn’t pull that particular character, only preview mode for them is available. You can only play them in their respective story mode and in the training mode.

 

Ok so is the only way to unlock a character through Signal Searches? If so are there ways to boost your chances on a character?

 

Locking is a way to ensure you don't fodder the item. It's suggested you fodder A rank for now, but eventually you'll be able to combine same wengines to make them stronger. But for now it's better to keep separate.

Preview mode is just you using in the story. Think of it as an extended demoz you're borrowing the character. There should be a button that screen that lets you swap between preview mode and using your custom team if you'd prefer.

 

Yep and nope. The featured character in a banner DOES have a rate up though and once their banner is done you can't recruit them any more and the next featured gets a rate up. The current featured is Qingyi. The regular banner you can pull any of the standard characters.

 

Okkkkkk so then for example could I outright purchase a character like Nekomiya? Without signal searching?

aside from anby, billy, nicole, corin and ben, yes

on the limited banner, the character on that one is boosted so there’s a higher chance of pulling that said character. I’m not 100% about the 50/50 still bc I managed to pull zhu yuan and qingyi on a whim through 10 pulls each. With that being said, the only other way you can tell you can get an S rank is based on how many pulls you have left on the bottom right of the screen.

Nope. Just have to get lucky doing the signal searches. Extremely lucky as seeing she's in the standard banner and there's like 6 or 7 characters. HOWEVER you should see a number out of 300 on the standard banner.......after you pull 300 times you can select one S ranked character and she's included in that selector. On the way to 300 you get some guaranteed S pulls but they're totally random and could be a different character or a wengine even.
