I will say that Letters From Iwo Jima was a great war movie but that’s where my praise ends. Million Dollar Baby and Gran Turino are crazy overrated.

  3. I've never seen that one. I ... don't tend to like war movies. When all my friends were getting really into them in high-school/college I felt ... uncomfortable.

It’s a good character film, it’s more about the people than the war kind of thing.

I’ve said it before but if we survive Trump, I don’t ever want to see another president get away with a fraction of the shit he has.

the argument is that even anti-war movies become pro-war movies when popular culture totally misunderstands them. see: apocalypse now. idk about FMJ

It may not be his worst sin, but Clint Eastwood gave us "American Sniper," which placed lies on top of lies about Chris Kyle's "heroism," made him a conservative martyr, gave us that eternally shitty "Wolves and sheepdogs" speech and turned the Punisher logo into a MAGA avatar.

Food talk. When I only have time for cereal in the morning, I mix a little bit of these two bad boys in a bowl and top off with almond milk

I really want to go up to conservatives wearing or has the Punisher logo tattooed on them and point out to them that Frank Castle both hates and kills cops

The entire sandstorm sequence is probably one of the most absurd things I’ve seen in a biopic.

There are a LOT of anti-war war movies. They don’t fall under the “portraying war as noble even if horrifying” trope that a lot of war movies go for to have it both ways. I can’t stand traditional war films but some of my all-time favorites are in the anti-war genre in some sense.

Is that where that is from? We had a safety briefing at work about potential shooters and we were told to be “sheepdogs and not sheep” and I laughed out loud.

Also Clint Eastwood’s newest movie involves him having multiple threesomes, so yeah, truly an auteur for our time.
