I graduated. The program I wanted to do at NYU requires me to submit 30 pages of my written work, of which I have none. I think I'm just going to apply to business school at Rutgers and go from there. I'm not cut out for the tech industry.

I don't think anyone thinks you're not struggling, or their struggles are any worse...But some take offense to the attitude that some others have here that, if you're making more than like, 40K, you couldn't possibly be either 1. having financial problems yourself, or 2. can't credibly support any politician looking to make lives better for people with less than 40K. In fact, they use the fact that some people with higher salaries support ostensibly good policies as some sort of "proof" that, actually, those policies must not be that great. Because hey, look, that guy making 80K working as a paper pusher at a bank supports it. And that other guy working as a VP in a wall street bank also said those regulations would be good to have. And if that guy supports it, well, you best believe it must not actually be good.

    Oops.

At some point I need someone to point out to the Repubs that keep saying "Zelensky says there was no pressure!" that the dude is trying to safe face in his own country when he says that because he doesn't want to look like a Trump puppet. He can't run an anti-corruption campaign and then literally do super corrupt things for another country when you win.

Zelensky can denounce Trump’s attempts at pressuring him as what they were without looking like a Trump puppet though. If anything those kinds of statements would bolster his anti-corruption image because he was able to resist intense pressure from the literal President of the United States. Also, doing whatever he can to help bring down the corrupt POTUS would make him an anti-corruption hero.

It’s bizarre to me that he keeps saying publicly there was no pressure when all the reports that have come out say they knew pressure was being applied. If anything, statements like THAT make him look like a Trump puppet. It’s like he’s trying to help Trump cover it up.

Yes, if the exploiting class supports your policies they are suspect. That is correct

You will literally never get any of the policies you want passed if you start excluding everyone over a certain income from being able to support said policies without it leading to some sort of bizarre "cancelled" situation for that policy.

that's fair, i guess i should say, if there is a candidate that claims to support more or less exactly what another candidate supports, but rich people like one a lot more than another, you should be suspect of that candidates' commitment to working class power

I know we've joked about this before but it appears his lawyers are truly arguing it now.

Well, a major difference here is that you support Marxism and I really wouldn't say I'm a Marxist, so that's probably part of the friction between the viewpoints. I don't think you're going to elect your way into a classless society, and I think it would take centuries of re-education to get to the point where people aren't growing up learning selfish mindsets that would prevent a true Marxist society from flourishing, so I'm willing to take my chances with varying degrees of democratic socialism/social democracies. Most all of Warren's policies line up with that, so I like her. I like Bernie too for the same reasons.

I'm also curious to see what happens to Bernie fans if he wins and they realize 2 years into his presidency that he's not going to get all the things he's saying he'll get for us. I know a lot of people say they realize that now and it's a overton window/negotiating tactic/etc, but I think it'll be a different monster if/when it actually happens, and we don't end up with M4A as he's proposing now but something more resembling a public option, or we don't end up with free college for everyone, etc. I'm worried they will turn on him quick instead of focusing their energies on getting a congress that will work with him to get more progressive stuff.
