DUDE, I’m sure you probably remember but I was a fucking nightmare of a human on AP from like 19-24. Just an absolute shithead. Now I look back and cringe.

My friend that I’ve posted about was reveling in the left being up in arms about chappelle and Bill burr’s New specials and I’m just like how are you that entertained by other people being offended. It’s fucking insane to think how much I was like him except he’s now in his mid-to-late 30’s.

 

Because of a prescheduled lgbtq town hall at a college where she’ll be talking about climate change and other topics with college kids unreal that someone is attacking that for sure

 

Doug Collins is having a meltdown because the Dems are going to have a contracted person do questioning on Lewandowski now

 

Harris, Beto, and Klobuchar also aren’t going going either and, per the article:

Honestly this whole charade made me lose all faith in the process. Like I can’t even get myself to care about what Trump does any more. Dems aren’t doing anything, Republicans don’t care. It’s just whatever at this point.

Seriously...next month I'll be teaching kids about how our government functions and how each branch has oversight over the other, none is more powerful than the other, etc....and it's fucking depressing to know that in real life that's not actually how it's working right now. It's...exasperating.

So teach them that this is what the book says but this is how the government actually operates these days.

 

Oh yeah that will be mentioned for sure. For a lot of my lower level kids it goes way over their heads unfortunately, but definitely something some of my honor levels students will get. I do get a little nervous because it brings out the political leanings of the kids more strongly which leads to some awkward things being said that I have to try and correct without forcing my beliefs on the kids lol.

We got into that territory today a little bit in my honors class because we were talking about different types of governments and socialism was one of the types of democracies. I brought up how Bernie Sanders saying he wants to raise taxes doesn't mean the government is going to have control over all the means of production so calling it socialism is dishonest, how most of Europe is slightly socialist, etc. And one kid raised his hand saying Bernie wanting to give free college or health care is kind of socialist, how he doesn't agree with raising taxes on the rich because those people like Bill Gates worked hard to make that much money and if they paid more in taxes they wouldn't be motivated to do so and etc etc. I had to politely just say that yes that is the argument that people who disagree with Bernie Sanders will make, and got into what some of the arguments against that argument are, etc. It's...not always fun to try and navigate haha.
