Just had someone explain to me that Lyme disease is caused by immigrants.

I Explained that the disease is hundreds of years old, named after Lyme which is a place in Connecticut where the tick that transfers the disease is native to.

But she's still sure it's the immigrants.

 

Lyme is a really nice place btw

 

I actually have Lyme disease. I can say with 100% certainty that it was caused by a tick, and not an immigrant. I feel like that shouldn't need to be said.

Heh that actually somewhat offends me as someone who's dealt with Lyme disease and its after effects since I was 8 years old. There is so much incorrect science out there and misinformation, all Lyme patients want is to be understood and not told conflicting bullshit by everyone. Blah.

 

I had lyme once supposedly. They didn't find a tick bite and said it would be cured by the time they got blood tests back, but thats what they said it was. It sucked. Symptoms were crazy. I remember feeling fine, eating dinner, and lying down on the couch and the second my ass hit the couch i felt like I had been running for 2 days straight with no sleep. Out of nowhere. Took me like a month to feel regular again

 

Isn't there a big fight over whether "chronic lyme disease" is real or not?
