If so, I guess that’s good. He could be popular enough to snag the other senate seat there

Given that Presidents often get elected by how they make people feel regardless of rhetoric, policy, qualifications, or factual knowledge presenting facts to dispute emotionally charged BS rage with some emotion of your own isn't exactly a stupid move.
