That's what I mean. His core was upper middle class, but was transcended into a working class message.

I can't believe people actually like that video of that guy yelling about how we shouldn't be surprised that Trump won. What a pompous ass.

If only there had been people in Germany to debate the nazis that would've stopped them!

So does no one think the electoral college will vote for Hillary, despite the 3+ million signatures on change.org? Guess it's just wishful thinking.

Even if Hillary did somehow succeed, I can't image how bad the pro-trump protests would be.

Their would have to be a new scandal, and it would have to be REALLY REALLY big. Like "leaked communication proves Trump talks to Putin, plans to surrender to him on inauguration day" big. As for that petition, I don't really get the point. 60 million people and counting voted for Hilary Clinton, including more than voted for Trump, whats 3 million signatures on an online petition supposed to do?

When u see ur old professor, who often displayed racism in class, talking about protesters on the news as an "expert" on race... awks

C'mon man, ugh. The reaction has been negative enough, the conservative media is just going to try to push more bad light now.

    Turncoat or?

Jk, probably would be you can kill the protestor but you cant kill the protest probs

I'll gladly take bitching about a stolen election every day for the next 4- 8 years over an actual Trump presidency.

    But no I don't think it'll happen

I don't see it happening. Like @Alec Joy said, there'd have to be a huge scandal (although that doesn't seem too outlandish of a proposition for Drumpf). Hopefully, this can get the ball rolling for voting reform, ie getting rid of the electoral college. Honestly, we shouldn't just stop at getting rid of the electoral college. We need to consider alternative voting for presidents and senators and standard transferrable voting for representatives. The winner take all system we use right now will only continue to grow this toxic two party reality we currently have.

  21. cross-posting from the Leftism thread:

Just got home from the ISO's Marxism Day School and it was really interesting, glad I went. The sessions I attended were "Race, Class & Capitalism," "The Enduring Legacy of the Russian Revolution," and "After the Trump Election—Where Do We Go From Here?"

Of course, the overall message was one of a multiracial working class struggle, and of building a strong left movement that can oppose Donald Trump and his fascism. That said, it is not enough to simply oppose Donald Trump; had Clinton won, there would still be fights to be had against neoliberal capitalism.

I purchased two books while I was there, courtesy of Haymarket Books. I haven't read them yet obviously, but based on their back covers and the conversation I had with the person working the table, I would recommend them both to anyone interested in socialism or Marxism.

Socialism…Seriously — a humorous and accessible introduction to socialism for the average person
The Meaning of Marxism — a more serious and technical overview of Marxist thought
