Hunchback of Notre Dame is not an appropriate movie for kids. Frollo basically talks about like...eliminating all the gypsys? And he wants to rape Esmeralda?

 

plus his treatment of Quasimodo is ableist
I feel like a lot of them have problematic themes, Ariel literally gives up her voice to win over some guy she just met

 

Ranking them is tough. Maybe something like

1 - Mulan
2 - Beauty and The Beast (best music)
3 - The Little Mermaid
4 - Pocahontas
5 - Aladdin

If we count the more recent ones, The Princess and the Frog and Tangled are up there

 

Hunchback had some great, dark music

 

The guy who wrote the book, Victor Hugo, also wrote Les Miserables. His stuff is dire and depressing. So yeah, it's not for kids. Disney really dumbed it down as much as possible to make it accessible even though it was still probably the most depressing and dark Disney movie I had watched at the time.

I used to watch it multiple times a day between the ages of 4 and 6.....I wonder why I've always had a somewhat dim view of humanity, haha.

 

Pinocchio legit scares me. I love the ride at Disneyland but I don't mess with that movie tbh!

I LOOOOOVED The Aristocats!!! I also loved Oliver & Company and remember getting toys from like McDonalds or something and playing with them alllll the time.
