My work is always open. I had to work thanksgiving and New Years (almost had to work Christmas but said no and got called in on Christmas Eve-also said no). Got paid double time for those holidays tho. I didn't really care much for thanksgiving and had no plans for new year so it didn't bother me much. The only thing that bothered me is how my work talked about working/taking holidays off which is total bs what they said about it
Really rude man at the grocery store pushed me into the check out line conveyer. We all know how narrow those aisles are and only room for ONE cart. Well he was so impatient to get on the other side he literally squeezed his cart thru WITHOUT saying excuse me. Him doing that smashed my cart into me and causing me to br smashed into the conveyer.
I have to work. I wish I got paid extra for holidays but I don't boo. But I can take any holidays off I want so at least I get that. (the only perk of my shitty job...) I mean I don't get paid if I take days off but at least I can take them off.
I should still get paid though cuz I'm taking of for my wife's birthday and get a floating holiday vacation day
I only get paid extra if it's a "company" holiday (I think. Idk for sure if it works for all federal holidays). when I took Christmas off I used my pto and got paid double time when I didn't work
My job would laugh in our faces if we asked for double pay or overtime at all. Nonprofit life = no money ever lol. They usually at least give us a small holiday bonus thing like a gift card, but they didn't do that this year.
I get shit from my company and I'm statutory employee so I'm not even guaranteed minimum wage lol And since I'm paid based on production my hourly wage is never the same so I can go from making $7 to $12 depending on how hard the work is. I need a new job
There are certain holidays where we get overtime and some we get double time. I guess it makes up for our shitty pay we get and no raises
I am going to drive back with my brother in law's brother which is a 4.5 hour drive and I have like never spoken to him despite my BIL and sister being together for 10 years. Idk his brothers like at all. I was like oh well at least we can mutually decide to not talk. But they told me he is a talker and probably will the whole way. WHYYYYYY
I made the drive from Fresno to Coachella yesterday and it took 7 hours and I was in the Pacific storm Lucifier the whole time. I was bitter as heck that I can't escape rain. I also encountered one U Haul that crashed thanks to the rain. Two big rig truck that flipped over due to puddles/bad driving. AND a highway road falling apart so they had to shut it down. The rain sucks and why did I ask for it so much
the company i work for operates on the "float holiday" policy. so we get out standard holidays - new year's day, memorial day, indpendence day, labor day, thanksgiving, christmas day but we also get to choose four float holidays - and youre given a ton of options like mlk, president's day, indigenous people's day, rosh hashannah, yom kippur, your bday, etc. I typically take all of mine at the end of the year - Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Day after Christmas, New Year's Eve. I can take a week and a half off and only use like 3 vacation days lol
It was my birthday yesterday and neither of my parents called me. My brother did, though. It's really confusing and kind of depressing.
Yeah. They're divorced, my mom lives near me and my dad lives in Mexico. I saw my mom last weekend and she gave me a gift early but I still expected her to at least call me on the day of, ya know? And my dad is getting older and can be pretty forgetful for things like this but having them both forget on the same birthday was kind of shitty.
