shaking rn from irritation and anxiety. i have been feeling sick and i broke my ipad screen and now this. i can barely concentrate on work as it is.

 

Ok why did everyone want it to go the other way

 

For one example, in the last three hours their currency's value has plummeted almost 20 cents.

 

Still this tells me nothing

 

from what I can gather it's fairly xenophobic

 

The projected economic effect is global in scale. The Pound was the strongest currency in the world, iirc, and it's now in an almost freefall.

I literally learned this was happening this afternoon

 

that's the lowest it's been in 3 decades.
my dad has a pension from there, so this is devastating

It could be very bad for both their own economy and the global financial markets.

a few points off the top of my head
1) brits can no longer travel or work in the eurozone without a visa
2) the pound falling has caused such a global impact already that japan had to close their markets to keep them from falling too far.
3) scotland and northern ireland politicians have already begun discussing leaving great britain
4) great britain no longer has a say (with any viable weight) in any euro politics

The EU is also the UK's biggest trading partner. Wonder what will happen there.
