I should start listening to new music again.

 

I've been bad about listening to new music and discovering new bands for years

 

I'm gonna try and see if I like Goodness one more time.

 

I'm using this morning to catch up on my backlog of 2016 releases that I've made playlists for on Spotify. Not sure if I'm just pickier than I used to be or am growing out of music, because all year very few new releases grab me for more than a listen or two.

Idk, just like, not discovering new artists that make me want to pay attention or listen for very long? I still very much listen to and purchase music for artists I've liked for years.

I don't care if it's a band, a reality show, a commercial, whatever; I will pay to see a project with Tom Delonge, Shia LaBeouf, and Kanye West.

 

Fair enough. I go through those phases sometimes too but luckily always snap out of it

 

Foxing opening for Brand New in 2014 may be the last time a new band has "stuck" for me.

 

I know better than to try and find new artists during the summer. I'm just way too grumpy 90% of the time. Like I'm purposefully waiting for some records until like October, cause if I try now, I probably wouldn't give them a chance. I dunno, it's weird.

 

I listen to way more podcasts than music so I can sympathize @Garrett L.

 

I also do this a lot too so it's hard to balance music in. I listen to an absurd amount of podcasts.

 

I don't have the patience for podcast. If I do listen to them, I end up putting music behind them. lol

 

Music behind podcasts?! That's straight lunacy.

 

There's a few podcasts (like Jalen & Jacoby) that have a low beat playing in the background but music in the background of talking sounds like a nightmare lol

 

I have a harder time focusing on/enjoying music than most people here probably

 

I should discover more new artists but even when I like them I rarely love them enough to add them in my rotation. I tend to go back to the same stuff which is kinda annoying cause I feel like it's a waste of a spotify premium account. But when I see how much music ppl here listen to in a year it's like omg! I stay with the same album for like a month straight. listening to so many sounds exhausting.

 

Before cancelling Apple Music to save money I would listen to every notable album regardless of genre on the New Release list. I just enjoy being a part of the conversation and you can't have an opinion on shit if you haven't heard it even if there is a preconceived notion that an artist sucks. Since cancelling I've definitely heard less because i have to download it, but I still try to consume as much as I can.

 

I am so fucking awful at discovering new music. Like once every 3 months I either post on here or ask friends for Recs and there is like a 15% chance I follow through with them. Ugh.

 

Yeah I definitely find when I'm searching for a lot of music I don't have time for repeat listens and then I end up wanting to listen to stuff that I already connect with. It'd be impossible for me to listen to 100+ new albums a year and spend enough time with each to actually describe them or rank them.
