I always thought OOTP was the worst because of all the teen angst

I read all the HP books as a kid, our school had a thing where if you read the books you got to go on a trip with classmates to see the newest movie.

On the eve of Chamber of Secrets coming out I read the entire book that night so I could go on the trip. Thus setting the precedent of cramming everything in last minute that I follow to this day.

i mean i think that's a little bit of the point and it was super relatable in that aspect haha. it was just interesting for me to see Harry let out all that rage at Ron and Hermione. He was just kind of sick of being over protected.

My favorite was Goblet of Fire or Half-Blood Prince.

Didn't like OOP that much either.

I wonder what books I should be reading my six year old? Seeing people say they read Harry Potter at like 9 is making me nervous. I know she's not behind at least compared to her (low rated public school) kindergarten class though

I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as she's reading. If you're reading to her, though, she'll understand a lot more than you think even if it would be difficult for her to read on her own.

Ah see I didn't read that one until I was like 20 so I couldn't relate as much. For whatever reason I quit reading recreationally after GOF

Reading comprehension really shoots up in that 3rd grade area, that's when I started HP. Never felt behind in the reading curve... started reading Stephen King books in middleschool

It's worse when you make a playlist of like five or six albums, and it will play songs from the same album one after another even after being shuffled.

I need to start. I've been slacking on the reading thing.

You could try The Hobbit. My reading sky-rocketed around second grade. I read all the Hardy Boys books in one year, etc.

Also Half-Blood Prince is a fantastic book, and my favorite HP book. I actually think they did a good job with the movie too. That cave scene I was super excited to see how they were gonna interpret it.

My ability to read in high school baffles me currently. I read 1, 2, and a half of 3 in one day. Hell, one day I read all 7 narnia novels in one day in high school.

I listened to Sir Jim Dale take me away for every HP book. Dude was every HP character in my mind.

And you can have fun. You said she likes horror, right? Play up the trolls and the spiders, etc.

It's my favorite book too. The last three movies kinda run together for me, probably because I've seen them like 1-2 times each and have bad memory

I think Narnia is probably the best series to start kids out with such a whimsical setting with great moral lessons and the religious aspect if that's up your alley. C S Lewis and Tolkien are so so great.
