I got a good laugh out of it. You and Saves the Night Todd (wonder what he's up to) were talking in that thread when I came in.

 

The c word is one of the worst words in the entire world.

 

I talk to Todd on the regular still. He's doing very well. He's married and doing the adult life thing.

I had a JM phase. Totally get it.

Your reputation kind of precedes you. A lot of people didn't like the way you posted on AP. I don't recall any of your posts, so tabula rasa or something from me. I've addressed some of the things you've said to you personally. I haven't given you points or anything because nothing has been malicious and you've dropped it every time.

This situation was more preventative than anything. A few of the mods were trying to come up with a good way of addressing the problem in the thread before it got out of hand, but a turd rolling down a hill picks up shit fast. We squashed it. Posters here do not want a FPS thread and when you make one, it's going to blow up in your face.

In this situation, it was a little bit of everyone making a stink, so we won't put you 100% at fault. Just try to be more cognizant of how people are going to react before you post stuff. We have a great community here, and we don't want to give anyone a reason to single someone out about a topic like that. Those are the situations where it becomes a toxic thread/community.

Let's all just take a step back and set the dial back to zero.

 

I hate the C word, but man, if Veep didn't nail it's comedic usage in the latest episode.

For better or worse, you think? I'd say the fact that is such a taboo here gives it more power and shock value as a gendered insult whereas it sends like over there it's usually said with a lot of humor

Nice. Glad to hear he's doing well.

One of my roommates in college is/was a huge JM fan, so after that semester was over, I was a bit burnt out.

 

Last time I tweeted about FPS I was attacked by fans for 2 days. Now..not a peep!

 

I got to see him play this past winter with The Grateful Dead. Was a great show to share with my dad.

 

Give Tony Hale all the Emmys for that delivery. I laughed so hard I cried.

I've never heard of the guy outside of this business, so I'm surprised you got that response. But then I'm not exactly knowledgeable about "the scene"

 

It was at a level where it didn't mean anything. Like it can be used as a term of endearment if you surprise someone you know? Its definitely getting toned down now recently as people realise how hurtful it can be, I cut it from my vocabulary a while back now.

A lot of curse words are used like that in Hiberno English. Cursing in general is completely normalised. Every second word out of my mouth is some form of fuck hah and that goes for a lot of Irish people.

The original anecdote was that my mom calls me it from time to time, and not in a derogatory way. She called me it a couple weeks back because I startled her and usage like that few people would have batted an eyelid at.

 

I hadn't either but I was really harsh when I found out about the abuse.
