Seriously though; I get that he was obviously trolling and stirring shit up, but IMO it's a huge problem telling people how they should and shouldn't view music and separating the artist from their work. Toxicity shouldn't be met with more toxicity.

Just because the thread was deleted as I was posting this and most of you are here, this is what I was about to post in that thread:

Hey everyone... let's just take a second to calm down. Everyone went to a really aggressive place very quickly. And there's a lot of emotions around everything that FPS has done so it's understandable. Best idea is to just ignore this thread, don't engage, and know that the mods are talking about it and trying to figure out what to do.

So I guess, in future situations, and we know they'll arise, just report the post. And if you feel the need to comment, just post the link to the Jake Mcwhatever story that's right up there (or sadly, the relevant one to the artist at hand) and leave it at that.

Don't bring it in here. If you can't have constructive conversation, leave it be. I deleted the thread with the blessings of a few other people because of the direction the thread took and the fact that we don't support that artist on the site.

 

I still would like to know what I did that was wrong, or that broke the rules here at Chrorus.

I don't see the problem with telling people they're listening to, supporting and empowering an abuser.

 

I was the only person in that thread having a constructive conversation...everyone else just started bashing me as if I was part of what he did.

 

There's a difference between pointing it out calmly and treating people like trash in a toxic manner for doing so.**


Like, someone mentioned a few posts above about posting the story thing; IMO that's the way to go about it. If someone reads that, and still wants to listen to him, it's their right to do so and they shouldn't be flamed for it*
