When I get drunk, my ability to speak Spanish and Italian triples.

 

Saaaaaaaame. With a smattering of French and German, depending on which relatives I'm around.

 

At one point, I was near fluent in Spanish through schooling alone (I have a thing for languages), but I've lost so much of it now, even though I can hear and understand but not respond, etc. When I lived in Italy, all the schooling really just meshed it all up in there so I can just flow from Spanish into Italian and get everyone confused.

I got in a fight with a Japanese man in Spanish in Barcelona. He didn't speak English, I didn't Japanese, and he was trying to charge me close to triple the cost of my food. That's the only time I've ever been truly fluent, I think. My friends to this day who saw it happen were like, "So we've been in Spain for five days and you didn't mention you know THAT much Spanish. You didn't think that would be helpful?"

 

I was drunk at an airport one time trying to speak Russian to a woman and she wasn't having that. My Russian is poor enough when I'm sober.
