I've gotta balance this Cinco De Mayo drinking perfectly. Drink with my friends, but not get too drunk to play this show tonight. It's gonna be tough, but I think I can pull it off.

Also, I need to find a sombrero...

 

I'm telling myself to not get down about it. Last year it really hit me hard and I ended up drinking a tad too much. Not really in that place anymore, thankfully. It's just weird seeing where a lot of my friends have ended up, and it's like they're all either just like me or super successful, there is no in-between.

 

This is how I feel except it's been longer.

Paying off my school loans is pretty much the only thing that doesn't make me feel really bad. That was such a huge weight off my chest. Worked my ass off in retail to do that, though. Burned myself out, really.

 

Seven years for me. And it's just in the last year that I feel like I know what I'm doing.

 

I just got a decent job this year.

 

I hope to one day feel like an adult, and not a child in a trench coat pretending to be one

Hello, other grownup!

 

I'm having a banana, peanut butter, protein smoothie in the office. I'm adult.

 

I had a chicken pot pie because time isn't real and I didn't feel like finding breakfast food.

 

I'm still on the "drink coffee and maybe fix some breakfast later" part of my morning. Just got a freelance gig to do today, so that's a nice surprise. Trying to make it as a freelance worker is so damn frustrating. Haven't worked in a week and a half, but then all of a sudden I have a job. But it's only gonna be three hours.

 

Definitely don't discount that achievement because that's huge! Congrats!

 

There is an ice cream social today and best believe I am all over that. I'm hearing rumors about the toppings and I am SO PUMPED.

 

It's too cold here for icecream. I haven't seen the sun in forever.

 

Thanks! I think I get salty about it because I had a free ride until my senior year, so I never really should've had loans to begin with, but I got screwed over majorly. I worked a paid internship, which all the money went to paying for my semester abroad through the school, but because of that income, I lost my full ride.

This is what the top life truly looks like. I am all about topping bars for ice cream. Best part of the froyo experience.

 

It's 43 degrees here right now and going to be 81 on saturday. I've lived in the Midwest my whole life and I'll still never be used to how inconsistent the weather is until like mid-June.

 

Ah damn that really sucks, I think you may have mentioned that here before because that sounds familiar. Either way though it's awesome to be rid of the loans, I have a very very long way to go, it stresses me out a ton tbh

 

I feel like an adult some days. I have a career job for the first time that pays decently, but so much goes to student loans that it doesn't feel like it sometimes, tho I know I'm lucky to be able to make a dent in my loans. As a kid I always pictured adults to know everything and not get like nervous or insecure so in that sense I don't feel like one lol

 

The weather is kind of freaking me out today because it's been in the 90's to 100's for the past like month and the high today is 73. That's weird.

@Garrett L. I have only done the froyo thing once bc we don't have them here but I had a lot of fun concocting the perfect treat and it was delicious.

 

Yeah, I think I mentioned it awhile back. A lot of my friends talk about how their loans stress/affect their life and it truly is the scourge of our generation. I know personally that I needed to reward myself periodically. Like when I paid off my higher interest/smaller amount loan, I bought a ticket to the USA/Mexico WC qualifier in 2013. When I got my higher amount/lower interest loan down to $1,000, I'd also saved up for a three week vacation in Spain/Italy. Definitely helps that I've been single all of my post-grad life and have been living at home with minimal bills since then.

 

I saw a Tumblr post recently that was like: "I'm an Adult in Training who needs advice from a Certified Adult but MY MOM WON'T PICK UP HER DAMN PHONE" and basically that really does sum up my 20s in a nutshell.

 

I like those frozen yogurt places because I can pretend I'm healthy when I get a pound of gummy bears with a single piece of fruit

 

When I paid my car off I was on such a high. Then student loans and medical bills started coming in and I haven't smiled since..l'm kidding. I did pay the loan with the highest interest rate off but that was my smallest loan and I've still got a whopper to deal with until the end of time.

My supervisor has been praying for the end times/apocalypse so she doesn't have to send her kids to college this year.

 

I get cake batter frozen yogurt and every topping until the point when the wife says "you're going to be sick" and I say "nu uh you're gonna be" and then she takes my ice cream away.
