Yeah like Snow White and Alice In Wonderland and Hunchback Of Notre Dam are all dark, dark stories. Credit to Hunchback for retaining a lot of that darkness and the religious themes in the movie

It's so weird to see this stuff as adults. That ring around the rosey song is about the Balck Plague.

Yep yep. Snow White is murdered for "sleeping" with 7 little men.

Sleeping Beauty has some dark shit too. I love it. They're borderline gothic stories adapted into children's animated movies.

Also regarding nursery rhymes, it's interesting that Humpty Dumpty is never referred to as an egg, it's implied that when he fell he cracked his head open, but we all remember him being an egg.

Being an English Major I find all of this stuff so fascinating. How people take these dark stories and shift them, or how they write these incredibly dour nursery rhymes that we all know but have disturbing implications.

Yeah we talked about it in a literature class. My professor said "how many of you have heard the story of the egg, Humpty Dumpty?" And we all raised our hands. He then tells us "where does it say he's an egg" and I was like whoa holy shit.

Supposedly it's written about an English kings brother I think? Who fell off a castle wall and his head cracked open and his brain spilt out. The Kings men tried to save him but couldn't. It's a really sad story.

My parents are making the three hour trip to an IKEA because that's the only one that's close. I'm a bit sad I couldn't go because I have a fantasy football draft.

Hate when people put words in my mouth or purposefully dumb down and misrepresent what I say. It seems intentionally condescending and it's frustrating.

This Manadonese one family knocks on the door of the other family and asks for their daughter to marry the son tradition that is playing out in front of me is so patriarchal.

I personally like that so many people love "Hakuna Matata" as a mantra, even though one of the points of the movie is that it's a terrible mantra.
