idk! people were always complaining about the overlap or album threads being in general or the artist threads just went totally dark anyway, thought maybe it was a good idea to just kinda nip it in the bud here so we didnt get a million "but why arent we THIS thread" posts or whatever. never mind i guess.

 

I think that's sort of the point though, no? If there was an artist thread then the Sucker thread doesn't need to have ep ino and everything else that has been thrown in there. Not like its a massive issue or anything, but I think it'd be nice.

i dont care either way i just think it would make for sense to have things consistent. what is the reason the ep info is better suited to the artist thread vs the album thread? why even have the album thread if the artist thread exists?

Don't want to sound like I'm piling on Ryan. I get what you're saying and do see the potential for confusion, but either way has its drawbacks. For me as someone always going back to older records, it was particularly difficult with the "their most recent album thread is their thread" thing

 

Because in the album thread you talk about that specific album.

 

why would you do that and not just keep it in one thread lol

 

Well I mean I get that, I do. I think maybe this applies to artists with bigger bodies of work as it give you someplace to discuss older albums.

 

To me, an artist thread is good for a band/artist who has a larger discography. Album threads would be about the anticipation, initial response, tour dates, immediate interviews/reviews.

 

I'd be fine with just artist threads keeping the clutter down, but that will also lead to it being impossible to browse those threads for recs and commentary because every new album will inundate them with release dates and tracklists and singles and "When will this leeeeeerak?"

 

i think it kind of keeps there from being a lot of convo threads in one place that are hard to follow, if that makes sense.

Nah I think it's good to hash this out now, I'm a bit conflicted about it myself haha.

 

Theoretically, yes, but I think Kanye should have a general artist thread as well

 

I think a lot of rap/hip-hop artists would definitely benefit from an artist thread since so many have such high output rates with mixtapes, collaborations, etc.

 

Like Jimmy Eat World should have both, but Pinegrove just needs an album thread for now.

Cymbals eat guitars is between albums right now and it didn't make much sense that create a thread for a two year old album rather than an artist thread

yeah i mean its just a case by case basis and its not a big deal if theres two threads or one thread or an album thread or artist thread just talk about music and love music and be in love with music thats all that matters at the end of the day fam, group hug

 

I'm down. I like having an incentive to check out new things, whereas doing it on my own time I'll just put it off forever. Having a timed community discussion gives me a reason to get on it now
