1.5 hours into work and we have received 1 phone call. Dreaming about lunch now. I know this post belongs in like 3 different threads but I'm posting it here

 

This reminded me the day I was forced to cover for our receptionist at the law firm I used to work at on Jan. 2nd. Tennessee had a bowl game that day. I was one of three people in the entire office and we got 2 phone calls. I think I fell asleep at one point.

 

Rude! There we are.

 

I'm starving but it's too early for dinner and too late for lunch...

 

made a last minute call to work at home today. worth it.

 

I miss being able to work from home.

rant time.

so my wife and I just bought our first home, and yesterday was the day that we handed the keys of our duplex back to our landlord and had a walkthrough of the place with him to make sure we didn't ruin anything. we were there for three years and we were really good tenants. always paid on time, never had any complaints against us, etc. our landlord even offered to lower our rent to get us to stay because he said we were such good tenants. we expected to get our full security deposit back and he even said we would. well today he texted me saying the new tenants were not happy because some things were not clean (the refrigerator, the windows, and some of the walls). he said he had to pay them $40 for 2 hours of cleaning and would be taking that out of our security deposit. obviously $40 isn't a ton of money, but it's the principle. I am usually non confrontational, but I did send him a pretty long text back saying how upset I was about it. when he got us the refrigerator, it was filthy and we had to spend considerable time cleaning it out, and never complained. also, I have NEVER moved into a rental where I didn't do additional cleaning on my own before moving in. unless you're moving into a brand new property, that should be a given. we'll see what he says back.
