Sam has got me mildly interested in Ipswich as a Championship team, if we're being honest. No reason I shouldn't be paying more attention to that league anyways (especially should the worst happen and Swansea go down).

I'm always a pessimist when it comes to sports, guess that is what happens when you are a Rams fan for over a decade.

Makes it a lot easier to digest when you expect the worse, never get mad or anything. Frustrated sure, but not the stereotypical yell at the scream angry like my dad.

I assume that's why they were told they could use the pic. We do that here at work if you can't identify a kid by face.

It's a pretty awesome league to be fair. The technical standard isn't the greatest, but it's extremely competitive and even.

There's a reason nobody ever wins it twice...

I used to get upset about sports, like legit angry then I finally realized there is so much more to life than sports, and there is literally always next year.

I made a post about why I got so angry about football back on ap a while back, but basically it stemmed from giving up playing football due to being gay and the hypermasculinity of the dressing room.

True dat. Why am I going to get pissed off about something I literally have no effect on, and let it ruin my day/week/year?

I was massively, MASSIVELY into football as a kid up until like about 13? And then I found that I found a lot of things about football culture offputting and not very fun, and so basically gave up playing it until I turned 18 and started playing with mates. I try and play once a week or so now, just 5-a-side or whatever with mates.

I don't like the gentrification and unaffordability of watching football live in the UK. One of the things I enjoy doing whenever I go abroad is watch some football, and I find that pretty much every country I've been to has far cheaper lower league football. Tickets in the UK are a joke.

I ran track in high school and was actually pretty good at my peak, so the football team recruited me to tryout as a receiver or whatever. I went to the summer training shit one year and just absolutely HATED the culture, the vibe, the jocki-ness, etc. Couldn't do it.

Never played football, just baseball and basketball through high school, but we always hated the football players.

I played football my freshman year of high school. Got bullied so hard by everyone (most of the freshman did) that I quit and never went back. Joined track and cross country next year and loved it. Team was much friendlier and the whole team atmosphere was better.

I never had a problem with my teammates besides one of the players being overly-passionate who happened to be the coach's son.

A mate of mine is proper into Basketball, and I reckon I could get into that too. I can't be doing with (American) football or baseball, but the fast paced end-to-end stuff like basketball and hockey definitely seem more up my street.

How popular is cricket in the UK/Europe?

Can't even begin to tell you how many kids I've seen hate their childhood because their parents forced them into sports.

Cricket is pretty popular in the UK. It's got maybe a wee bit of a niche following for the county/non-national stuff, but most people would have played it at school, and have a general familiarity with the rules. I have mates who are properly into it, and The Ashes is a big deal every time that's on.

I liked football besides practices, I hate crab walking so much, my ankles can't deal with that.

Baseball was OK, may have been the sport I was best at, but I got beamed by a pitch as a kid and was afraid of stepping up to the plate after that.

  25. Baseball was the only sport I was ever decent at. I gave it up after freshman year of high school because I didn't fit in all that well with my teammates and I had just started playing in a band. I miss it sometimes, but it was definitely a good decision.
