Can he be my new Dad?

 

My dad actively listens to Noah Gundersen and Kacey Musgraves, and wears my old band tshirts all the time, so he's pretty cool

 

The two dudes on the left, Tyler and Wil, are my best buds. Btw, totally stoned out of my mind in this picture.

 

Only old Bruce though. And a strong affinity for the song "Lost" by Coldplay, but he can never remember the title.

 

My dad is pretty much the sole reason I listen to old school country and bluegrass, he got me into that stuff when I was a kid because that's all he'd listen to. Hated it when I was a snot nosed little prick teenager but I got over that and now, I live by Conway Twitty.

For whatever reason my dad refused to play music around the house when I was growing up. I wasn't exposed to stuff like Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Crosby, Stills, and Nash until a few years ago. It's a shame, because if he had shown me as a kid I probably could have avoided my awkward Pussycat Dolls phase

 

My house was a ton of Queen and Zeppelin.

Oh, totally. I had a nu-metal phase that lasted 3 years. I had Korn posters on my wall.

I still enjoy some Static-X and Slipknot every now and again.

 

I saw POD at a festival once. And by "saw," I mean I fell asleep on a golf cart during their first song and woke up for "Youth of the Nation."

 

I was all about Linkin Park, Hybrid Theory was played to death.

 

Slipknot has some actually good stuff though. They have a lot of not so hot stuff, but some of their songs are really solid.

 

Linkin Park too for sure but I still like them

 

My mom alternates between pop country and 80s bands like Journey/Boston. My dad has the broadest spectrum of taste I've ever encountered in someone of his generation, and yet he's also usually really behind. He just recently asked me if I've heard of the band Franz Ferdinand.

 

never really acknowledged them as one of my favorite bands but im having trouble thinking of a band more important to me than smashing pumpkins right now
