I somehow have failed and had this missing from my life. Retroactive AOTY.

I made so many friends from The-N's message boards

 

I feel like @Meerkat just basically told me there were others before AP.net and now I'm

 

1. I imagined you saying this out loud and referring to me as Meerkat instead of Eva and it's the second best think to happen to me today
2. It led me to AP, if that makes you feel better. I made friends on the music boards. We would promote people on PureVolume. And then The-N died out and we moved to PureVolume accounts and I discovered AP because you guys did the Hey Chris interview
3. I'm actually still friends with the core group. There were basically 4 of us. 2 of them actually married each other almost two years ago and the one did my website design. It's been really cool growing up together and seeing how all four of us have made our dreams come true.

 

This is amazing. I'm always interested in how people first found AP.net and through what medium or other site or whatever. Also, that's really awesome! And now I'm curious what the best thing to happen to you today was.

 

Thanks! I can't pretend I'm anything but sitting in my thirties now. Heh.

 

I always heard AP was like a hate site so it always scared me (lol) but then I finally caved to sign up for the various contests that were always going on, OF WHICH I WON NONE!!

 

Yeah I didn't post for a few years though. It was a very intimidating crowd at that point. And I was 14-15, so even if it was a more welcoming community everyone still had 5-10 years on me. I had a few accounts, so I don't remember technically when I started posting. But it eventually became my internet home base.
My wife (@kaylasananjou) sent me extra cute selfies this morning that made my day. So unfortunately, my name now being Meerkat gets edged out a little bit haha

 

Note to self: Run more contests.

Wait @irthesteve how did you end up on AP? As someone who's been there forever, I'm actually really curious

 

lol not too far off! I got dragged so hard for my first few posts, tho they were admittedly very bad posts. I had always heard it was just a mean site full of meanies and everyone was intimidating and I was 13 so I put in my lurker dues for a few years ha

 

A free download of a Gatsby's song from Land of Lost Monsters, pretty sure. Then I basically downloaded all the featured songs as they got added/changed, which led to me following the news, then eventually jumping into the forums

 

I am 100% listening to this album right now and sending selfie videos to my sister of my lip synching.

It's ... not great ... but it's not horrible by any means. I am pretending it's The Clash At Demonhead and it's kinda amazing.

 

Hah, it was so hard to keep finding bands to put on there. Pretty sure Rufio, Yellowcard, Something Corporate, and Brand New all had songs on there at one point.

 

I remember lurking when Infinity On High leaked. That was wild

 

I honestly found a ton of bands there first, so thank you. I kinda remember that they weren't really supposed to be downloaded, but finding the direct link was super easy haha
