Did any of you watch the show Happyish with Steve Coogan and Kathryn Hahn? I'm sad it was cancelled...I think a lot of people had problems with it tho.

 

Anything he did with David Lynch also deserves a mention. Either of those are great choices though, and Pretty in Pink is a classic for a reason. His performance is one of the best things about the film too.

My problematic favorite for him is Down Periscope. He was so perfect for that role.

It’s just a super 90s comedy that has lots of sexist or other questionable jokes, not anything particularly out of the ordinary for the time. Plus it’s about the navy, so that’s another point off, lol. I still quote it a lot. It’s very silly.

 

We spent all day on the couch watching Friends today - its so sad how problematic a lot of that show really was lol

 

Season one of this show is bomb, my fam

 

Soooooo much. That’s why I’m extra grateful for my Golden Girls because they’re a decade older than even the earliest Friends and yet only have maybe 10% of the amount of problematic content.

 

Dorothy needs to stop slut shaming Blanche tho

Basically the biggest issue in the series is slut-shaming Blanche and making fun of Dorothy for being single/not having dates. Generally speaking though it’s head and shoulders above almost every sitcom, no matter the decade.

 

a few years ago I watched friends all the way through for the first time and not only did I find it sexist and homophobic but also just ..not funny
why did I watch the whole series you may ask? well not everything I do makes sense
